Is it hypocritical to support the filibuster rule and then criticize Democrats for using it?

It's politics and there are rules and then there are rules. Both sides are always quilty of manipulating the rules. They follow them when it's to their advantage and they ignore them when not. Currently the democrats are just abusing the American people because they want to change things that were included in the BBB and restore massive spending on their special projects. Adding $1.5 trillion is not good stewardship of taxpayer funds. WE are not going to get a handle on spending until the Congress votes in a balanced budget amendment. Every American has some sort of budget, every business has a budget, but Congress just spends, spends, spends and much of it is a waste of taxpayer dollars. So, pass a balanced budget amendment.
Right now the democrats are trying to shift blame for a government shutdown to the republicans. The simple truth is republicans voted to pass the CR to keep the government open so the Congress can continue to do business. Unfortunately all but a few democrats voted against the CR that would keep government open and paychecks and services flowing. The reason being they lost the election, they lost power, they lost funding for some of their partisan projects and the only thing they know to do is obstruct the business of goverment and the lives of American taxpayers. Don't forget the party holding up government, and keeping government closed is the party that told us all that Trump Russia Collusion was a real thing, that Hunter's laptop was Russian disinformation, that the Steele Dossier was evidence in a crime, and crime is not a problem in America. How can you believe when they say they are working for Americans?

How does this relate to the question?

No, no , no!

It's a fact many people on the left have criticized Republicans for not eliminating the filibuster to reopen the government.

It's a fact that the left blames the Republicans for the shutdown because they chose to keep the filibuster in place.

How does this answer the question in the thread title?

It is absolutely hypocritical to support a GOP filibuster but execrate a Democratic Party filibuster.

Period/End of story.

As an aside, I detest the filibuster and could care less which party nukes it.

The Democrats are using the filibuster to recover what they lost through the normal legislative process, specifically the COVID-era ACA subsidy.

They are holding the government hostage.

No one should support the filibuster rule, regardless of party.

John Thune should go ahead and end the filibuster and pass Trump's disastrous budget. Of course, Thune doesn't want to......because he knows the Big Ugly Bill and the ending of Obamacare subsidies will be a total disaster for the Republican Party and the country.

Not sure if that is hypocritical but Republicans bitching that Democrats shut down the government to rollback parts of the OBBB they don't like, when Republicans shut down the government to rollback ACA they didn't like, most certainly is.

Why? The history doesn't matter if you support it "as it currently stands".

Can't be arsed.
It's irrelevant anyway. You support the filibuster. Means this shutdown is just government operating the way you think it should.

Wrong.

You're confused.

This is "how" it works.

Just get rid of the shit. Republicans just slammed through a bill with 50 votes that radically changes the US healthcare and economy while also throwing out massive tariffs with zero votes.

What is the name of this fantasy world in which you reside?

It's a fact that the left blames the Republicans for the shutdown because they chose to keep the filibuster in place.
You have a bizarre definition of "fact." 😆

"The Left" blames Republicans for the shutdown because, as per usual, it's their fault. That's kind of how reality works.
