Yes, there will always be some who feel that they are not represented, ever. That doesn't mean that we ship them off.

Let's say Gary Johnson got 15% of the popular vote this past election. That's not enough to ever form a major party. But it is enough for the other parties to take notice and change their positions to better reflect how the people feel. Parties evolve because of our division. The names "Republican" and "Democrat" have retained power for nearly 200 years. But the platforms of today look little like they did then (for better or worse). We need diversity in political beliefs.

On top of fundamental agreement, like that people have a right to be free. Look at the posts in this thread. Half the people want to go to war to keep states from leaving the union. Is that the diversity we want?
 
I've supported breaking up the US for a while. Hopefully it happens. Secessionist movements seem to be gaining traction all over the place right now. A very exciting time.

All over? You mean all over a very liberal/socialist leaning California? As a of the matter is I could care less if California left the union...good ridden.

No they arent, but whoever is in charge will be replaced by the other side of the coin in a few years and Ill be no better off. Libertarians will still be prevented from debating, having the same ballot access as R or D, and ignored in the media and by the politicians. The only way forward is independence.

2. I AM a libertarian and I supported Independence for ideological groups or states under Bush, Obama, and now Trump. Im hoping that liberals now finally realize that govt has gone too far, that their own tyrannical actions have led us to Trump, and the only way to secure the freedom to pursue their socialist agenda is to rid themselves of the conservative half of the country. Likewise, conservatives can have their theocracy/oligarchy, and libertarians can be left alone. Win Win Win.

So, are you ready to dissolve the political bands which have connected us with each other, to alter or to abolish the USA, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to you shall seem most likely to effect your Safety and Happiness?

52% of the eligible voting population did not vote. 25% voted for Clinton and the Democratic platform while 23% voted for Trump and the Republican platform.

More people are disaffected by this election than were winners.

Break it up. I don't want to live like the conservatives want to live. We don't agree on much of anything. We end up forcing ideology down each others throat. It sucks.

Exactly, and to be fair, liberals mostly brought us to this point by eroding states rights, a big part of which was the New Deal. You all want a big central govt that provides all your needs, and conservatives dont.

I'm all for a divorce. We hated liberals will take the coasts and the right wing nutbags that elected the racist, misogynistic, Putin-loving Fascist can have the stuff in between. I'm only in favor of it if we can set up strict border controls, however.

The only reason that anyone in America wants to break up the USA is because of the US Constitution doesnt allow the ****ed up **** they want to do. On top of that there are plenty of reasons for outside influences to want to break up the USA.

WHat I find incredibly stupid about my fellow Americans is that a small percentage falls for that crap. These idiots think that a State breaking off would create the utopia of their dreams. In reality it would more likely be a hell/authoritarian nightmare of some sort.

If any groups were to break off from the United States I think it would be the states of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and/or California. I don't see any other groups or states vulnerable to secession. Texas law doesn't allow secession as part of the terms of the surrender during the civil war.

Where do you see the geographical or ideological division that would make this practical? I don't see why this would happen.

The Supremacy Clause is something you might want to study.

We'll do our own science and healthcare. You can remain suppressed and depressed for as long as you like. We'll advance and sell you the results just as if you are a foreign country. Oh, wait, we do that already.

Our women will continue to have domain over their bodies and a whole host of other issues will be as we want them, not how Mississippi or some other **** hole want them to be in our state.
