Yes. You don't need to go to university in order to get educated. Gates, Zuck, and Jobs were self-taught. Tarantino never went to film school, David Bowie never went to music school. Edison had no formal education at all.

The biggest regret in my life is never having gone to a university to get educated. And the process of being educated, to me, what I think I missed out on, is the interaction with other people looking to educate themselves.
To me, education isn't rote memory of what has been written by the authorities who finalised the research. That's available in libraries and online. Universities are where minds encounter minds and discussion leads to previously unexpected lines.

I’ve been guilty of not fully appreciating public libraries, but I’m glad I have spent more time in them and come to appreciate them more.

As it happens, the other day I had to make some copies for court and google tells me the only place close by was a public library. Place was huge, and beautiful inside. There was almost nobody in there other than staff.

And you, who was directed there by Google.
The library I go to, when I go to town, is always well populated. There's two self-checkout machines and often a line-up. The librarians behind the counter are usually busy with other people.

As a member of FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression), I read their newsletter. Harvard ranks Dead Last in freedom of expression (unless what you want to express is politically correct). Liberals tend to think "diversity" means lots of different skin colors, Not different social/political positions.

Depends on the online source, too. If your field is, say, early childhood education, do you think your education is better served by online sources or classroom instruction and discussion with others in your field?
