But it does matter to most jobs.I would have loved to have had a chat with my heart surgeon before he operated on me.
But keeping me from dying had a higher priority at the time.
But after he saved me, I came to believe he was a nice guy. And even a decent one.
But I don't care if Trump is a decent person.
I care that he follows the Constitution; keeps the country safe; makes us economically strong; and maintains a military strong enough to defend against any known threat.
Decency alone does not get the job done.
Trump has no issue sending our own troops to war, as long as it suits him. And he wants them to be shooting people for crossing our border. He panders with this issue.

Its not though. A surgeon could absolutely fail at his job or be fired/not hired for not being a decent person. In most cases, a person does not choose their heart surgeon at all. The hospital they go to does. So you arent making the choice, the hospital is (in most cases). Not my analogy but I understood the point. That’s a successful analogy if someone, not everyone, gets it.
So a lot of people like to watch other people get yelled at and fired and that is good? His reality TV show was a big winner. You want to ignore that because you didn't watch it?
By hiring people he has to then fire because they are scum. He hasn't drained much (not that draining a swamp is actually a good thing anyway) and what he did drain he filled with sewage.I never watched a single episode because I thought the premise was silly.
And the guy running it was really a frustrated carnival barker.
Who knew enough people would vote him in so he could drain the Washington DC swamp.
If you dont care about other people, you are not going to be a decent President, a decent leader. You are closer to a dictator. For the record, I never voted that Trump is a decent man.
My position is that a president does not need to be a decent man in order to lead the country.
Personally, I believe that Trump can behave like a real ***hole and not care about other people.
You have not one shread of evidence against your accusation here of Biden but there is plenty of evidence, video evidence that Trump mocked a disabled reporter. You deflected and tried to make a charge against another person's decency on nothing but a baseless accusation.Liberals have a very interesting set of values.
No, mocking a reporter who happens to have a disability is not a kind thing to do.
But I've now had liberal posters explain to me that if the Biden Campaign asked an anonymous source to lie in order to achieve a political result, it is all part of electioneering, and that there is nothing criminal about it. I've had liberal posters explain that cheating is part of being an adult.
Political correctness is important. But it is not the ultimate measure of whether someone is a good or bad person.
Being misleading, manipulative, conniving, conspiring against people, purposely phrasing statements so that they are not technically lies, but purposely lead the public in a false direction...
These are all horrid things to do, as a person.
And are much more morally reprehensible than making fun of someone who has insulted you, and not realizing that they had a disability.
Are you claiming he didnt suggest that troops at the border should shoot border crossers in the leg?More lies?

Donald Trump 'suggested shooting migrants in the legs' - BBC News
Trump asked about shooting migrants at border in legs if they threw rocks at agents, reportedly wanted a '''trench with deadly reptiles''' | Fox News
Or his actual statement that rocks are not much different than guns so soldiers should shoot them?
Donald Trump suggests migrants could be shot for throwing rocks
And we dont know the troop levels in other countries for most of Trumps presidency because his administration didn't publish them like the past two.

You
Trump has no issue sending our own troops to war, as long as it suits him.
No new wars in 3 1/2 years.
Do you understand there is a difference between not having an issue to send them to war (which anyone who honestly recognizes Trump for who he is can see that Trump absolutely would send them to war for his causes if it were to suit him) and simply not having a reason at this time to do so?You

And how much has he decreased troops in places like Iraq and Afghanistan since he took office?
Personally, I want troops fighting for others, for us to be the people that stand up to those who abuse other people, to those who would kill them simply because. I want it done intelligently and with restraint but have no issue with standing up for "the little guy" particularly if we made an agreement to do so.

Can't find any president similar to Trump.
Look at it this way. Trump has created a cottage industry for writers who want to sling mud at Trump after talking to people who truly want to pay Trump back for treating them unfairly.
It's amazing how many people will pay good money to buy one more book about Trump and what a terrible person he is.
At this point, I don't see him sticking around after January.
And everyone will be saying, "Well, there goes our nightly entertainment. The daily blogs will never be the same again."
Because this thread is about Trumps level of decency, not Bidens. That was wrong of him. It is not a decent comment/claim and he deserves decency points subtracted. If we compare Biden on a decency point line with Trump though, Biden would easily come out far ahead.Didn't Biden say many times that his wife and kid were killed by a drunk driver?
What sort of scum bag say's stuff like this?
But, But, But.........TRUMP!
As he was in 2018. Howd that go for him?No new wars in 3 1/2 years.
Nobel peace prize nominee.
As he was in 2018. Howd that go for him?
That isnt a huge accomplishment when you look at the qualifications for such a nomination.
And he has tried to start one or two, just didn't accomplish it. He knows better than to fire the first shot and that even firing second on petty things would hurt his campaign.

According to you.Projections don't make for a sound argument.
Stop projecting.
Your slammed full of 1/2 truths.
According to you.
There are plenty of analysts who can show that not starting a new "war" is not really an accomplishment and doesn't mean he wouldn't start one if the opportunity arose.

He is reckless. He doesn't really care about anyone but himself. There is no lie in those comments. He has shown the truth in both of these facts.

Trump makes Charlie Manson look like a saintThis is a simple question that I hope will elicit a good discussion. Is Donald Trump a decent man?
The question is NOT an assessment of his professional life; whether he is a good president or a good businessman. This is a question of character: Is Donald Trump a good human being?
Now I realize that is vague, but that intentional. I do hope we get into a discussion of what is decency, what it means to be a decent man, what it means if he is not a decent human, and what it means on questions of his fitness for office. If you think he is not a decent man, could you vote for him as POTUS? If so, how do your defend that position?
So I ask, Is Donald Trump a decent man? If you answered, you are on the record. Please elaborate (and, as with any good debate, be prepared to support your position)
First, you do realize that I was speaking for myself? How you look at things is your choice. I suppose the question could be approached by examining the sum of a person’s life. How many times have they done good things or bad. Add them up and go from there. But even then how one person defines good or bad actions can vary. A habitual liar won’t find anything wrong about lying. A thief won’t find anything wrong with stealing. A saint only looks at someone like themselves as a saint. I’ll leave it here for I think I may be wasting my time explaining to you how I look at stuff.First not Christian or of any religion making such a stance so that phrase means pretty much nothing.
Second, I know many of my own flaws. I have many but I'm still a decent person as are most people on Earth.
But most importantly, you absolutely can and should be considering the content of a person's character when you are deciding on whether they should lead you or not. How decent a person is absolutely should be part of that assessment. The "casting the first stones" phrase is a cop out, especially if trying to use against others who have never expressed they believe such things.
