The nation is bitterly divided. Both sides are exhibiting strong dislike for one another over their personal choices of candidates and positions. Both side are heavily dug in over their positions on policy; taxation, government regulation, energy policy, economics, all types of social agenda's, corruption in politics, unwillingness of Congress to find middle ground, claims of systemic racism, lawlessness in our major cities and more. It's a mess. Is there any chance that the country can find a middle ground necessary for compromise. Keep in mind that the current election is likely to end with a divided government and getting things done will be difficult.
Is there an answer that goes beyond the party in power simply, in they have enough power, doing what ever they please despite half the country being in opposition.

Well, a good start would be for you Trumpists to stop trying to destroy the last pillar of democracy by trying to cast doubt on the electoral process with lies about voter fraud. That'd probably be a start. Can't really talk about policy if 70 million people believe the system is illegitimate despite the fact that Trump's own lawyers keep admitting to judges that they have no evidence of voter fraud and are not alleging it, resulting in dismissed suit after dismissed suit. There is no voter fraud. You have no evidence. All 50 states see no evidence. Stop lying to attack Democracy. That's one.

A follow-up would be to throw out all that tribalist ugliness you have been wielding ever since it looked like a black man would be president. So you should probably not do what you did then, which was to spend a decade saying:

1. The first black president is lying about his place of birth.
2. The first black president is lying about his religion.
3. The first black president hates white people.
4. The first black president hates America.
5. The first black president is actively trying to destroy America.
6. The first black president is trying to use AGW to transfer our wealth and "sovereignty" to third world nations, to make the US a third world nation.

Then you probably should not do things like follow up by electing an utterly corrupt and racist conman, then spend years braying about "liberal tears", saying "**** your feelings", and generally treating everyone who isn't a Trumpist like a foreign enemy.

Get on those two, and maybe we'll have a chance to talk policy. But you cannot spend a good 13 years treating non-Trumpists/the left like your enemies - no, telling them that they are your enemies - and then innocently wonder where all this division came from, bemoaning the state of things.

You did it. And yes, I'm well aware, they made you do it to them. Right?

We'll get more unified as time goes by.

Rush, Levine, Savage and their kind divided the country, but they'll go out of fashion eventually.

And they did it just to get more listeners. It's all about money with these guys, they don't care about the country.

No, and if Biden becomes president then it is the will of the voters that the outgoing party of the White House should do everything possible to torpedo the incoming administration, his family, all his staff, associates and friends - and the same for every other Democratic official and supporter. That's what the Democrats did to Trump non-stop. If voters voted for that tactic, then that is what Trump and all Republicans should do as the will of the voters.

I am afraid there is no chance to bring the deplorables into the fold.

They will be on the outside looking in for the foreseeable future. Powerless.

Its really a good thing for America. Those are some crazy white guys.

You will get exactly as much compromise as you gave since 2016.

While you people are rejecting our elections because they didn't go your way, no, there can be no unity.

Stop pretending you care, you don't.

I didn't expect it t be all seashells and balloons, but what the GOP is doing now is purposefully destroying this republic.

My days of trying to be accommodating to Trumpists are gone.
