Is accepting a 400-million-dollar plane from a foreign country a violation of the law? (1 Viewer)

The important thing about the Emoluments Clause is it's ok if Congress approves it. So if this gets that far, it will be interesting to see Congress justifying this considering there's nothing wrong with the current Air Force One.
 
Now they say it's just a loaner and it's not a done deal.

Could well be a violation of the Emoluments Clause.


...Senator Adam B. Schiff of California, who as a House member led the first impeachment case against Mr. Trump, said the plane amounted to a “pretty clear” violation of the emoluments clause. “The corruption is brazen,” Mr. Schiff wrote on social media.

Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland criticized the gift, saying the president must first seek Congress’s consent.

“The Constitution is perfectly clear: no present ‘of any kind whatever’ from a foreign state without Congressional permission,” he said on social media. “A gift you use for four years and then deposit in your library is still a gift (and a grift).”
 
Trump said the plane will be donated to his presidential library after his 2nd term ends.

Seems like graft to me. Trump will be visiting ME Arab states in the next few days.

Not looking to end Israel's punitive Gaza/Lebanon actions, but to sign new business deals with the Saudi's, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (wink wink).

Congressional Consent: Congress can authorize federal officials to accept emoluments from foreign governments, but the official must still adhere to other relevant laws and regulations, such as the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act.

New Trump Golf Course, $5.5 Billion Beachside Project Announced for Qatar​

The Trump Organization, founded by President Donald Trump and co-led by his sons Eric and Donald Jr., on Wednesday announced a new deal to develop a luxury golf resort in Qatar, signaling it has no intention of slowing foreign business activity during Trump's second term.

What to Know​

The development will feature a Trump International Golf Course and Trump Villas, part of the $5.5 billion Simaisma beachside project located roughly 40 minutes north of Doha. Led by Qatari Diar, the development is envisioned as a sprawling entertainment district that will include an 18-hole golf course and a "Land of Legends" theme park, a source told Reuters.

Dar Global, the international arm of Saudi Arabia's Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development Company, has previously announced Trump-branded projects in Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh and Oman.

Also, this week, the Trump Organization announced the launch of the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Dubai. The Simaisma resort will mark the first time the Trump name appears on a property in gas-rich Qatar.

The Trump Organization owns dozens of properties worldwide, with current and planned holdings in North America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman. The company operates hotels and golf courses, as well as domestic commercial real estate.

Concerns about the blurred line between politics and personal business interests have been repeatedly raised throughout both the first and second Trump administrations.

Incidentally, or not, just so you know, Qatar supports Hamas. Qatar is a first-class supporter of terrorism, the Qatari system is providing supplies, training and other forms of support to non-state terrorist organizations. One of the largest forms of support provided by Qatar to terrorist groups is the provision of safe havens and financing. Qatar is also considered a home for many internationally wanted terrorists.

The biggest lobby in D.C is the Qatar lobby. Trump just signed an EO order on April 23, 2025, requiring U.S. educational institutions to disclose the source of their funding. Guess where most of that foreign funding is coming from? Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

We are watching a takeover of the United States by Qatar and Saudi Arabia in real time.

Nobody is giving Trump a plane, so no...there is no violation of the law.
