This I can agree with, all Iran is doing is positioning it self for the potential vacuum that will be created if and when we vacate the M.E.This is another Iranian attempt at getting attention from the international media. The Iranian navy would be completely annihilated if it attempted to engage the U.S. in any way, and the Iranians are smart enough to know that.
This is completely idiotic. I doubt Iran could even reach us and if they could we'd blow their navy to bits before they were within several hundred kliks of the US coast.
Now, who really believes that Obama would do anything, if Iran was actually stupid enough to pull this crap?
I can hear it, now:
"But...but...but...they're in international waters"
"They have the right to sail anywhere they want, as long as they're in international waters"
"What we need at this point is some strong diplomacy"
the United States Navy has fewer ships now than at any point since WWI. Just sayin.
This is far worse than Iran sending its silly nave...
U.S. confirms attacks by Pakistani military units
Pakistani military units fired shots at American and Afghan government troops along the Afghanistan border several times over the past year, in encounters the United States has downplayed but that illustrate the fraying relations between the countries, according to officials.
On Wednesday, Afghanistan's foreign ministry issued an angry warning to Pakistan after claiming that about 300 rockets had been launched across the Pakistani border into the Nuristan and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan, killing an unspecified number of civilians.

The same is true for every important maritime nation on earth.
What do you imagine that means?
unless one counts Chinaor a few others that spring to mind.
what it really means is that every western nation (and Japan) has a smaller navy than it did in WWII.
well, it tells me that the enlightenment had a good run, and now it's back to the dark ages.

As long as they stay in international waters i dont think there would be a problem. Just be kinda fun to see how they would respond if things did get a little froggy.Just out of curiousity, why would we do that? Are we at war with Iran and nobody told me?
maybe Iran should take its Navy to the coast of Somalia.......just for a trial run and get a little experience

Wow, fancy.Iran has, in fact, two navies.
We're doing more with less these days.unless one counts Chinaor a few others that spring to mind.

I take it to mean that the USN is still relatively larger than other navies despite it's smaller size compared to ww2 counterparts. So concerns that the navy isn't large enough aren't as bad as it may seem.
