BBC News - Iran opposition figures arrested after protests
A number of opposition figures have been arrested in Iran, a day after violent protests in the capital left at least eight people dead.
Those detained include senior aides to opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi.
His nephew Seyed Ali Mousavi was among those killed in Sunday's violence, the worst since June's contested elections.
Family members say they are being prevented from holding his funeral because his body has been taken from the hospital where it was being kept.
And the beat goes on in Iran and not one word out of Mr. Obama mouth over this whole protest.Nor has the EU made any major comments typical of the Left what is going ot take for Mr. Obama and the rest of the World Leaders to finally say enough is enough to Iran when they start killing their own people(oh righ tthey have already done that :doh) How about building uke Bombs (Oh they are already doing that:doh). Well as more Iranians die the more there blood is on the hands of World Leaders who sit by and do nothing.
Well what should they be doing?
World leaders have condemned the crackdown. Some sources:

The US should send President Carter, he will blame it all on Israel and the zionist jews.
For starters cut off Iran Money then closing all Embasey and then basically stating if you attack your own peole again then we the World will attack and remove this illegal governemnt.
But then again I'm a dreamer:mrgreen:

Not really only one elected World Leader has made any puplic comment and this a Chancl of Germany Mr. Obama sent his NSA out to make his statement while the Canadain PM sent his Minst. of Forg Affairs and France just relesed a very vauge open responce.
Obama did condemn the fascist regime when he gave that speech about the attempted terrorist attack, but I doubt the Iranian government even heard the speech. Someone needs to go over there and talk with them in person. I'm not sure if they would listen to John Kerry, but Obama or Clinton *may* have a chance. If all fails, we and the other nations who care about democracy could stop sending them money and/or any other resources.
This is also another example of the United Nations failing to do anything that would advance democracy. They have global peace keeping troops stationed in a number of countries. Why not send them to aid the protesters or help remove this illegal government from it's throne?
You're dreaming. Iran will listen to Obama or Clinton as much as Kim will listen to anyone, which is notta.
We need to stay out of it and allow the Iranian populace to topple the leadership. For change to really take place it has to come from within. The people there are perfectly capable of doing it if they really want to, as after all they've done it before.
I'm not dreaming. I said MAY because I know it's very unlikely, but if enough world leaders talk with them and threaten to cut off resources.. It may have some effect. If it doesn't though, that's okay because we tried and it shows our deepest support for the Iranian people.
They could at least suggest that our hearts are with the people who want their liberty.
You know, it has always fascinated me -- the Iranian regime is literally, and thoroughly, everything you guys on the left, in your wildest wet dreams, imagine Republicans/conservatives are or would be if they could. As regimes offensive to everything we in the west are supposed to hold dear, this one is among the historically worst.
Yet the people who staged years of protests, by the tens or hundreds of thousands, against Bush don't seem to have much more than a shrug for the Iranian theocracy or its people who want to rid themselves of their repugnance.
No, according to many or most of you folks, they should be engaged. Fox News should be shunned, sanctioned, and ignored, if not put out of business, but it's glad hands all around for those Millennial thugs.

I think a visit by John Kerry would send the wrong message.

Well I can only speak for myself but personally Im in favor of the protests i just dont see what western governments can do, that they arent already doing, that wouldn't make things worse. Im open for suggestions though. Whereas on the other hand there are plenty of situations around the world were we could do much more.
Totally agree. We need to stay out and let the chips fall where they may.
