Investigators haul away more than 45 tons of marijuana from San Bernardino County property (1 Viewer)

I guess the cops don't have any illegal aliens to worry about so lets bust some folks for housing black market weed?

Find anyone hoarding cigarettes while you were out there?

What a waste of resources going after weed.

So, are you honestly saying that until all the illegals are dealt with all other crime should just not be investigated?

Interesting.

Isn't it illegal?

I completely agree with you that going after weed is a waste of resources but I don't get the rest of your OP.
BTW, are you getting any of this rain?

Yep. Started about 4 o’clock yesterday. We needed it.

I wouldn't recommend an outside grow here, unless it is very small. Two or three plants. That's the only quantities I would contemplate even indoors for myself anyway.

Two or three plants here would run the risk of a wayward deer or bunny ruining a whole season's crop. Or a wayward big mouth.

The greenhouse is the way to go. Natural sunlight, protection from wind and rain, controlled environment, and minimal issues with wildlife, including bugs, if you are vigilant. Plus they're great for extending the grow season up here, you can get a few extra weeks, more if you use a heater.

Also, the greenhouses are nothing fancy - only a few hundred bucks, they're mostly plastic, glorified tents. But they work great and stand up to most weather we get up here. Biggest problem is how hot they get mid to late July... but you can literally just open it up like a tent if you need to. :)

And, if you're only growing a couple plants, you'll have lots of room for tomatoes and peppers. They love a greenhouse too.. hehe

Probably not. Probably intended to be sold in the market that the state of California claims exclusive control of.

Lol I just can't get my head around the plumbing.

I can put up a greenhouse kit in an afternoon that costs me $300, and will hold 8 - 10 plants comfortably in 30 gallon grow bags. Each of those plants will reliably produce at least a pound of dried flower unless something weird happens, with no lights, no feeding systems, no artificial growing mediums, no calculating formulas for nutrient mixtures. The most complicated thing i do is test and adjust water ph. I use lemon juice... lol The water here is on the high ph side. I also put in a bit of molasses.

Nah, greenhouse growing is about as simple as it gets without just dropping it into the ground. You just need a bit of space, good soil, good genetics, and the ability and a bit of know how to keep on top of it.

Lights yes...but no feeding systems. Good soil and remember to check for moisture every couple days. A small electric heater which provides warmth and air circulation.

A person might not get the yields you speak of, but really it's probably easier than growing tomatoes. Timing the harvest is the biggest part of ensuring quality so far as potency.

Hehe... maybe I'll give it a try sometime. I've only seen really complicated setups, and they're cool, no question, and probably produce more than I do over time, given the fact that they can grow year round.

And, yes, I forgot about good trim techniques... though I might argue genetics is the most important factor in getting high potency.

The one thing I wish I was better at is cloning. I know it's not that hard, it's just never a skill I learned. On the flip side, though, one tends to develop a tolerance to a strain if they consume just that for too long. I typically grow 6 - 10 strains at a time, but even with that, and the fact that I convert at least half my harvest to concentrates, I still find myself at the dispo from time to time for a fresh taste. So cloning isn't that much of a priority, despite the cost savings it would represent. I value variety a little more. :)

Found this, thought you might find it interesting. :)

Here's a thought, having law enforcement persecute people for crossing an imaginary line is about as stupid as this.

Um... Okie Dokie

In general, how does the taste and smoking experience of your sunlight grown bud compare to dispensary flower- which I assume is grown under lights in a more controlled environment?

They are probably over valuing the weed. they are claiming that is is worth over $69 per ounce. I can go to a nearby dispensary and get it for much less:

They frequently have sales as low as $20 per ounce.

I imagine all 42 tons of that will end up in the evidence room......
And it probably came from illegal farming on Oregon or norther California, as we have probably the best growing climate for weed.

Probably. Its BS IMO.

I would rather see people blow more weed than drink more alcohol
Agreed, but let it be though legal taxed business.

Illegal growers used to lace weed with other illegal drugs to make cheap dirtweed seem more potent. Weed from legal shops is tested.

Back in the day I got CA weed that was so potent I couldn't smoke an entire joint without letting it go out in my hands and forget I was smoking.
It was probably laced with some other drug.

Problem being that when weed is "legalized", all that happens is the state becomes another seller in the existing market. Usually with higher prices which would mean they would perhaps not be competitive in a free market. But they back up their market position by violence directed at both other suppliers and consumers.
Illegal growers usually sell it to dealers in states that it is still illegal in.

Certainly the legalization of marijuana made all that illegal trafficking unnecessary.

There is still profit for it. Especially if it is being sent to states where it is still illegal. Legal operations make determining what operations are illegal a bit harder. They used to all be illegal so it was easy in the past.

I get that sarcasm often doesn't translate well.

I think in the grand scheme of things, legalizing marijuana federally and allowing for growing your own product for personal use is the smartest play. I grew up in Florida in the 70s...we had plants growing between the fence and tool shed year round. No one cared. No one died. The only time I ever had a problem personally is when I bought laced weed. Home grown was maybe not as potent...but long term better.
