(Reuters) - Richard Mourdock, the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate in Indiana, said in a debate on Tuesday that "even when life begins with that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen."
The remark drew criticism from his Democratic opponent, congressman Joe Donnelly, as well as from Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's camp - even as Mourdock defended his word
One can put the mind set of this Akin and Murdoch in the same category of madness as the taliban and others of their kind with their demented views.
Indiana Republican: When life begins from rape, God intended it | Reuters
Honestly, I think it is a reasonable and somewhat consistent position, although I don't agree with it. From the standpoint of someone trying to get elected in a close race with an unusually strong Libertarian candidate to splinter the Republican vote, it was just a stupid thing to say though. If it plays anything like Todd Akin's comment did, Joe Donnelly will take the senate seat from the Republicans in Indiana. I'd pretty much given up hope for the Republicans to take the senate this year anyway. Things looking very good for the GOP in 2014 though.
That was one of the sickest things I've seen. Now are we going to see rapists claiming in court, "God told me to rape her. It's his will."?
Meh. There's nothing wrong with what he said.
"even when life begins with that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen."
In Missouri, Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin prompted an uproar by saying women's bodies have defenses against pregnancy after "legitimate rape," and now trails in his race.
Meh. There's nothing wrong with what he said.
Yea it happens all the time in some places in the US, among Christian pedophile cults, and that is accepted.
Walsh made his controversial comments after an Oct. 18 debate with Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth. Walsh said that with “modern technology and science,” there wasn’t “one instance” where an abortion would be necessary to save the mother’s life. When a reporter asked him to clarify that he was saying it was never medically necessary to perform an abortion to save the life of the mother, Walsh replied, “Absolutely.”
Everything is wrong with what he said.
It's consistent, rape doesn't lessen the value of the life conceived.
Seriously? Are people actually defending this position? Defending what that ignorant and vile human being said?
Come on people. This is no joke. This is disgusting, appalling, and highly disturbing.
He's running for office and people are supporting him?
Doesn't make it any less disgusting that it's consistent with their disgusting values.
When did "Don't kill the innocent" become a disgusting value? Did I miss that meeting when society switched to the dark side?
