During this administration, the Federal deficit has increased by 3 Trillion (with a Capital T) dollars. That is an increase of 40% over the debt America has accrued in its entire history of about 230 years. So what is our government going to do about it? Right now, they do have a choice.....

1) They can turn down the bill introduced to increase our debt by another 781 million dollars. This, of course, would cause widespread financial panic.

2) They can vote for the bill, and let the bloodletting continue, and in time, bring on another Great Depression.

Either way, we are totally screwed. How did we get to this point? The answer is right in front of our noses, in a place called Washington DC, where nobody gets it. In fact, nobody sees past the next election there, and that is the problem. Do you think that our politicians, both Republican and Democrat, are putting their own selfish interests ahead of America's interests? Yup, thats what they are doing.

Patriots in Washington? What patriots? Its all a "Patriot Act", if you will pardon the pun.

We need a balanced budget amendment, or this kind of thing will continue indefinitely. Politicians intentionally wait until the last moment to pass these increased debt ceilings, knowing that anyone who votes against it will be blamed for shutting down the government.

and yet, while the economy does well, it wont matter because it will be paid down faster than all the naysayers speculate.
and just what is $700 million on top of 7 trillion? sounds like tip money to me
the economy needs to move, and is due to bush/rep/cons
the govt must continue which is why the miniscule increase will pass

thats 781 billion. you might want to ask a mod to fix that.
