IMPORTANT: A message for those who support 3rd party candidates

Look, I am an out of shape 48 year old man with bad knees, who smokes cigarettes. Is it possible I could win the next Boston marathon? Yes... But the reality is, I can't and wont even if I chose to enter the race.

Stop playing games and get real.

Of course, part of what stops you is believing you can't. I was a three hundred plus pounder once. I was told reality was I couldn't runa marthon at all. In the time it takes to go from one Boston marathon to another, I was able to. And likely in my age group, win it. As long as no one believes it is possible, it isn't. If the impossible is to become possible, more have to believe it can be done. Look no futher than Obama himself for proof.

Boo, you are accomplishing nothing with your dishonesty here. If you believe that someone else besides Obama or Romney will win this election, then bet me $1000 dollars on it, and I'll give you whatever odds you want... Deal?

If not, then enough with the BS.

Nothing I said suggests I'm predicting the winner. You may want to read closer.

You are suggesting that someone else besides those 2 can possibly win this election, affording an excuse to those who vote for 3rd party candidates.

Knock it off and either respond to what I have said about it, or go away... This is serious stuff and I won't reduce it to a silly game of words for your entertainment.

What is possible and what will happen are two different things. What will happen depends on who gets off their ass and votes, and if any grassroot movement really catches fire. I can't predict the future. I believe it isunlikely, but not impossible. One day people actually realize they do have the power.

Many people who voted for Obama in 2008 aren't going to bother this time and just stay home if not voting for Romney. People don't get enthused over a failure. Why would a majority of people vote for a failure?

Maybe, maybe not. Romney is hardly an enthusiastic choice for conservative either, as he is a lot like Obama. Hell, in the foreign policy debate, he seemed to be endorsing Obama himself. :coffeepap

An opportunity at removing Obama is making people enthusiastic.

This whole thread sounds like a desperate plea from the right, hoping that the third party candidates don't screw Romney. It's sad that people are so invested in one party that they can't even see the benefits of taking the blinders off and looking around.

Yeah. And you think you'll get something better than Mickey Mouse.

Go ahead. Keep voting for candidates that you have admitted that you detest. How's that working out for ya?

No, I think we'll get exactly what we're voting for. You seem to think you can vote for Mickey Mouse and Mickey'll actually get elected.

That's called delusion and wishful thinking.

No you don't. No Republocrat candidate will win or lose by 1 vote.

No, they won't, but voting is a collective activity, not an individual one.

The Constitution requires 270 EV (50% +1) in order to win the Presidency. The decision would then move to the House of Representatives where partisan politics would be rule of the day. So in reality a third party can only be a spoiler as Ralph Nader was in Florida 2000.

...
There's a lot riding on this election, so I really hope that those of you who had planned to vote for a 3rd party candidate, would please reconsider that decision... There's just too much to lose here.

Thanks.

OK, you talked me into it. I was planning on voting for the liberatarian candidate, but instead, I will vote for Obama.

Feel any better?

Yeah, your posts have made it obvious you are more Liberal-tarian :)

Increasing the debt brings us closer and closer to collapse. The duopolies have proven that is what they do. Yet you buy into the rhetoric that somehow "your guy" will be better when proven they aren't.

what we know is that obama will continue his policies of the last 4years and economic collapse is certain. Romney may or may not do the right thing, but he is the only chance we have at this time.

Well then it's just a matter of aggregation. Third parties can win if we aggregate enough, and if you want to aggregate enough then it is illogical to put your vote anywhere else.

You already crossed the line earlier into dishonest dicsussion, so as I said, I have nothing more to say to you.

Oh boo hoo hoo. I didn't say anything dishonest, please don't LIE. You are merely incapable of debating your points.

Sorry but yet again PRECEDENCE AND HISTORY PROVES OTHERWISE. Every recent Republican president has raised the debt even when they have said they wouldn't.

You are buying into "hope and change" and nothing more. You are essentially saying "this time will be different" even though it isn't.

The Dem/Rep duopoly is the biggest threat to America.

Romney loves America and what we stand for. Obama doesn't.

Your comment is about the same as "My candidate can beat up your candidate" which is both childish and ignorant on your part.

So you are voting for more debt even though you say you don't want more debt. Got it, that REALLY makes sense.

Well he is right, we do get what we vote for. Unfortunately, voting Republocrat is voting the status quo meaning more debt, more war, more government. I find it hilariously sad that anyone of "conservative" value could even support the Republocrats, it's an exercise in insanity voting for that party thinking you're gonna get something different this time. The only way to gain difference out of the main party is to threaten on of the branch's power. If you can significantly impact the winning percentage of one side, you'd force that side to move to recapture votes; meaning it would have to adopt some ideas closer to your own. And to do that, you only need a few percent at most, taken predominately from one arm of the main party.

That's why even though I consider myself liberal leaning, I voted for Gary Johnson. The status quo of the Dem/Rep duopoly is NOT working. Time to try something different.

Even my relatives, who are staunchly conservative, voted for Gary Johnson this time around cause they are sick of the duopoly.
