I'm driving my old truck across the country, and I may sleep in the camper sometimes.

For my tastes the Pacific Northwest is the ideal climate, chilly and damp in the winter but almost never frigidly cold, and warm but almost never hot, in the summer.

I love that area. Our friend who wants to live in Montana just came back from a couple of years in Portland. He was born and raised there. Just left because it was expensive.

And therein lies the issue. Psychos don't have any concept of rules. And gangbangers shoot each other because frankly, they're ignorant idiots. I am neither. And that's the reality. Take it or leave it.

Such a tough guy. 😂😂

I've personnally experienced the ability of a firearm to diffuse a potentially dangerous situation. And, I grew up in a place with guns as common as lawn mowers or TV sets. You have to follow the rules with a firearm. Then you'll be OK.

You have to be careful when you pull a gun as you can find that it just leads you into trouble with the authorities
And you're lucky that pulling a gun didn't escalate a potentially dangerous situation into one much worse

Leave your gun at home under lock and key.

In other words, trust the good intentions of the nice criminal.

Should I take the .38? Would you? Lovely brown finish, right?

No. I detect scuff marks and you want a more powerful gun when you are defending your life and family.

I'd pay to see a movie of GrandPappy and MyCroft in a truck full of weapons (for protection) on a road trip to the big Apple. Mayhem ensues.
I have zero desire to go to the Big Apple and the only time I've needed a truck full of weapons was in a war zone.

Wait...from the news I've been seeing, it looks like the Big Apple IS a war zone nowadays.

Or simply deal with them without a gun.
How, get on your knees and beg for mercy? A firearm is the best tool for protecting yourself. Why handicap yourself compared to the criminal?

Two firearms is even better. More respect. Big shiny ones! .45's! Maybe four. No begging anybody when you're packing, right?

As another poster here explains, someone carrying has that same begging option as do you if you're unarmed. The carrying person has every option you do, if you are unarmed.

They just have an additional option that you lack.

It's a sad statement about life in the US that you have to take a gun with you just for a drive about the country.

We just need more Brits to immigrate, become citizens and vote.

I don't believe it's a requirement.

Or simply hand over you wallet and watch - it's a lot cheaper (not to mention safer) than engaging in a gun fight.

But just think of the service you could do to society. Eliminate a POS thief/detriment asshat... PLUS no more ETB expenditures for a loser. It's a win/win!.

And just trust that I am not dealing with a two or three time felon that wants to eliminate witnesses? The naivety of gun controllers and their coddling of criminals is amazing.

Your chances of drawing on said felon and surviving are less.

You obviously did not pay any attention when we were talking about situational awareness.

The truth is that I can do everything you can do when confronted by a criminal plus I have the option of protecting myself. You are limited to begging and pleading.

Then deleting the pleading and begging and starting all over.

"Please, please don't hurt meeeeee...I just cashed my paycheck! The moneys right here in my pocket!!!

Surprise...bang bang bang.

Only if you have it CCW licensed in every state your crossing because leaving it locked in your camper when you’re not in it is an invitation to put another gun on the street.

My guns are locked in a safe except the one that’s on me. If I don’t have that one on me and I’m at home or in my car it’s in a bio-locked single gun safe that I have installed bedside at home and in my car.

None of my guns are ever going to be used by anyone but me. They will never fall into someone else’s hands.

That’s a gun safety rule many gun owners forget about.

So if you have such a safe in your camper, fine. If you have a CCW permit in every state you’ll travel in so it’s always on you, fine. If not, leave it locked up at home.

You don’t need a CCW permit on every state. There is this little thing called reciprocity. For example, a FL CWL allows you to carry concealed in PA. Plus, don’t forget that 27 states are now constitutional/permitless carry (though there may be restrictions for non-residents).
