And go.
So why are you a conservative? What convinced you that was the best ideology to embrace?
Obamacare. Regardless of the fact my employer offers insurance even though we only have 15ish full time employees, obamacare jacked our rates up to the point where my employer went from paying 90% of the cost to less than 75%. When this went down I was a new homeowner and every little bit helps. It was then I started doing my own research and figuring out what and how my ideology would best suit me.
Already have. I would describe myself as a JFK Democrat. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" still rings true for me. I'm fiscally conservative but socially liberal (in the classical sense). With the rise of Bernie Sanders and how far left the Democrats have went, I didn't leave the party. It left me.

How do you see conservative economic and social policies positively impacting you or your family?
Why do you hate poor people?

In general. For example even though I despise Obama, as a working class guy I'm very thankful that I can have (somewhat) affordable healthcare.
Well it's been proven time and again free market principles drive down the cost of goods and services. Supply side economics (you might know them as "trickle down economics", however a Google search for that results in a lot of hyperbole and idiocy, as to where searching Supply Side economics gives more relevant and constructive content.)
As for positively impacting me and my family in a general sense, ask yourself this question: Who knows what is a better way to spend the money you earn at your job, me or you? If the answer is me, then you've clearly never seen me at a casino. If the answer is you, then you're not a socialist.
Hi, welcome to the board. Just a note: free market economics is not supply side economics. Demand side economics(which most liberals support) is just as much free market economics. 99 + % of liberals support a free market, with some limits, just as 99 + % of conservatives support a free market, with some limits. The disagreement between the two stems from what those limits should be, and the level of taxation on business and top wage earners(demand side economics tells us that more money to businesses and the richest people is not as effective a way to grow the economy as more money at the bottom side, simply because a larger percentage of that money is spent as opposed to saved). Citing the free market as a benefit of conservatism is akin to citing elections as a benefit of liberalism.

Privatizing important services has routinely resulted in disaster. Look at the thatcher era in Great Britain for a prime example of conservative policies screwing over the working class.
No offense, but you clearly don't know what socialism is. It's not free stuff or heavy taxes.
I know, it's why I said free market principles. I am of the opinion that liberals and the left are not one in the same anymore. I try to make a distinct separation between the 2 as being classically liberal and modern liberal are not the same, economically speaking. Being a classical liberal and a conservative in that sense, there isn't much of a difference. However the social justice type, socialist liberal hijacked the term liberal. So there is a distinction between them all.
I know, it's never been tried.
It's such a God awful system that every attempt to implement it has resulted in catastrophic systemic failure.
Actually, in every attempt it's resulted in rapid industrilization and record economic growth. But I'm not here to defend past regimes. My socialism is not that of stalinist russia or Maoist china. So what's your point?
Would love to see these results over the long haul if you have time.
However in everything I've studied, socialism always works in the beginning, but eventually basic human nature takes over.
Well to start, here's some good data about the first and second five year plans in the USSR. https://mltheory.wordpress.com/2016...-five-year-plans-soviet-industrial-revolution
But that's purely on how effective their economic planning was. I agree that stalinist russia was still a brutal dictatorship.

There's also a great short video on Mao and his accomplishments
Probably the best working example of socialism I can think of would be Thomas Sankara, communist leader of Burkina Faso in the 80's.
If you have the time, check out his documentary, its absolutely amazing
