(as we HAVE done for about 120 years now,and quit getting involved in stuff that's non of our biz, we woudn't NEED 90% of our military/spy bs. 99% of other countries don't bother with ONE % of the military expenses that we have. Sheesh, it's so stupid and arrogant that it embarrases me to be a US citizen.

What solutions for that embarrassment have you considered? Certainly one solution comes to mind immediately.

Change happens from the top. Elect a third party.

Change happens from the top.

False. It never has and it never will. The top protects the status quo and its position therein.

A young America won a war against the British Empire against tremendous odds. We hated them for their meddling in our lives and in our business. The British Empire had forces all over the world and had their boot on the neck of more countries than just America and they were hated for it.

200 some years later America has turned into the British Empire extraordinaire and now we are the hated ones. And then we wonder why we are under threat from "terrorism".

The OP is right. It's embarrassing.

I'd like to see the link to prove that.

It's called history.

Of course, if I were claiming a conspiracy, no "proof" would be required... right?

You outnumbered them 10:1 and you were on the brink of being defeated but then the French came to the rescue, but you know. It was tremendous odds. At least the British took a hands-off approach to meddling in other country's affairs. They paid other leaders to do it for them.

The British Navy was the best Navy in the world, their Armies were the best equipped, the best trained, and had regularly whooped world powers like Spain and France. The British Empire wasn't in the habit of losing. So yeah, I'd say America won against tremendous odds.

And for a Canadian, you sure have a favorable view of American meddling. I guess your pretty comfortable up there in Canada knowing that America's boys will have your back if Canada is ever threatened. And we'll continue to soak up the illegal Mexican invasion too while you Canadians are out walleye fishing, ehh Jacques?

I can't think of anything more stupid and arrogant than the suggestion that if only "we" would stop our bad ways, we wouldn't need an infrastructure to protect ourselves.

Like I said you outnumbered them 10:1. The key is not getting threatened, maybe also controlling oil. Maybe if you fixed your border you wouldn't have to, try people with guns, they tend to do very well at keeping people away. You can also try electric barb-wire fences.

Maybe we will round 'em up and drop 'em all off in Saskatchewan.

While I agree that we need to disentangle the US from keeping up a semblance of international security alone, I see no reason and all to be embarrassed. All in all the USA has been astoundingly benevolent relative to the amount of comparative power it has held. A sheriff is not usually loved by all and is always going to be bad mouthed. But the level of well being around the world would be much lower than it has been without that work done.

You are proposing a conspiracy theory to protect the status quo.

No conspiracy is required for people to look out for their own good. Your faith in government (top-down change) is a strange juxtaposition with your standard Una-Manifesto routine.

Not sure this is Law and Order stuff but most importantly, you left out the second parenthesis.
