The following Huffington Post article attempts to draw parallels between Obama and MLK. I dont know what goes on in the head in some of these people that makes them think that Obama is the next MLK. First of all Obama is not black, he is bi-racial. Bi and multiracial people are in their own separate category in this country. MLK IMO would have never run for any office, because many of his opponents would have brought the attack that his work was nothing about civil rights and just for political gain.

I don't think Obama would ever compare himself to MLK.
My understanding of his personality, from reading his books, is that he's pretty humble and extremely honest about having enjoyed a comfortable white middle-class upbringing and been completely sheltered from the struggles that most blacks of his generation and previous ones endured.

To anyone who is moved by the fact of his race, Obama is BLACK.

Or to anyone who doesn't know he's biracial.

Just sayin'...

No offense, but it's kinda hard to miss, especially when you see him standing in the middle of a group of black people.

I mean, this picture kinda looks like it should have the word "PWNED" over it.

He's the 'white' sheep in the family.

Oh c'mon, 10, there are full blooded light skinned black people.

But you are right about the pwned picture. I bet his nickname is Fedex.

Alright so Obama is biracial. Malcolm X(MX) was actually 1/4th white but NOBODY refers to him as somebody of mixed ancestry even though he even looked mixed to anybody who've studied what biracials 'look like'. I have very few of the factions stereotypically(but sometimes accurately) attributed to black people. I have small lips, small nose, clear eyes(as opposed to the jaundiced eyes some blues have) I don't have coarse hair. If it wasn't for the fact that I have brown skin you wouldn't be able to tell I'm half black if I described myself physically. And yet I am. Obama is the same except he's a lot closer to his black side then I am. That being said I've heard very FEW people compare Obama to MLK Jr. One simple reason. While MLK Jr had LITTLE to fear from the political arena because he was strictly a private citizen Obama is a public servant. The question of whether or not they are comparable is void on this basis alone. Ignore the race factor which you seem to somehow show proof of by giving us an article talking about how Obama isn't really mentioning MLK Jr. in his inaugural address.

I'll admit all the comparisons have gotten out of hand, both positive and negative.

but GEE ... I don't know, ... I'd think that anybody would hate it more when someone in media compares our next president to Hitler, Mussolini, bin Laden, Castro, Mao, or David Duke, than with someone like MLK.

I suppose those comparisons were less disgusting, huh?

I was offended that Obama was compared to McCain during the election.

Only when the place of birth is disputed I believe.

I think the greatest irony is that, even though he's actually half white, he's still more qualified to have the "African-American" tag than most black people, seeing as his father was actually African.

Just sayin'.

I can't wait for the sycophants to complain about sending too much aid to Africa.

Well, Obama's Global Poverty Act specifies 845 Billion toward that end and Hillary's Senate Confirmation Hearing testimony has used the CERT (sp?) program in Iraq as a way to argue for it.

If young Capt.'s, Maj.'s and Lt. Col.'s are given thousands of dollars to build hospitals and schools in Iraq why are State Dept. specialists with fluency in the languages and in-depth knowledge of the peoples and cultures of the nations where they serve not given the same tools?

It is a persuasive argument.

Ready to cough up some more money?

Maybe we should hope the comparison to Jesus is apt so we might see him turn, not water to wine, but instead, dirt into dollars.

We are already doing that.
