If the supreme court rules presidents due indeed have complete immunity from their actions...

I don't think they will be or should be at all motivated by the date of this year's election. They have an extremely important question before them, with massive long-term ramifications, and their goal should not have anything to do with an upcoming election date.

As far as timing and an election - that has far more to do with Smith and even with the trial court and the sweeping decision they reached, which is why this issue is now before SCOTUS.

It is absurd that they are even looking at this case. It should have been rejected. The only possible reason is to stall and give Donald the time he needs. That much they can do and would and that's a crying shame.

America needs to know if Donald is a criminal before the election. It is outrageous that Donald may get to essentially be tried in the court of public opinion where his BS is like absolute power. What is said about absolute power is true.

He is charged with real crimes. He needs to be tried in courts of law with juries looking at real evidence; not talk show pundits, the social media rumor mill, and whatever nonsense BS they all spew.

And it needs to happen before we all vote on whether Donald should be trusted to retake an oath he has already broken.

I used to call him what he really is but on further reflection, Jackboot is better because it signifies someone in the Gestapo killing innocent men and women without a care.

Everyone is holding their breath waiting for the decision by our Supreme Court, when this shouldn't even be in the hands of the Supreme Court right now. The SC rejected taking this up until the lower appellate court could hear arguments. Well, they did hear the arguments and made a very concise, direct rebuttal as to why a president should not have absolute immunity. The SC should have accepted that ruling, but they didn't, and instead dragged this out past the election. Even if they rule against Trump in this case, it doesn't really matter since the DC, Fulton County and documents trials have been put off until way after the election. If Trump wins, then it's all over. He will simply call the cards as he wants to see them and insulate himself as President from any impeachment.

The Supreme Court has previously ruled that presidents have immunity in civil lawsuits against former presidents for actions taken that are official acts. When Trump claimed 'absolute immunity', he's saying he can do anything he wants to do and the law can't touch him, even criminal law. As his lawyers argued to the appellate court, he could just do whatever he wanted to do, even have enemies executed, and get away with it.

No president, including President Biden, has done worse than Donald Trump has done in his four years. He will live in infamy in our country's history.

There is nothing biased about him. Anybody in that position would be the target of BS name-calling by Donald's followers.

Here's how it works. It has nothing to do with the person. Anybody gets in Donald's way, Donald spews vitriol, energizes his followers to hate that person, predictable public outcry ensues. That's how Donald works. His followers are pawns.

There is no morality to it. Donald wants power, needs it to clean up his messes. He needs followers to perform this function for him. He gives them people to hate, amps up their emotions, they respond by doing exactly what Donald wants. He couldn't give two squats about his followers. They are tools in his arsenal. He just wants to be able to break rules and laws as he sees fit because he's dysfunctional and was never reprimanded as a child for doing wrong. He has co-opted every dysfunctional anti-social American who resents authority and prefers scapegoats to the truth.

The trials being put off until after the election have been delayed because Trump's judge in Florida helped him stall the trial until after the election. Trump's game all along has been delays. The Fulton County trial hasn't even been scheduled yet due to the delay tactics his lawyers used against Fani Willis. In the D.C. trial, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan had scheduled the trial for March 4, but that was upended by a Trump appeal contending that he was immune from prosecution for official acts taken in the White House. The judge put the case on hold as the appeal made its way through the courts.

His delays were of course intentional, and they worked for him. The objective is to get Trump reelected and in the White House so he could pardon, not only himself, but other scumbags like Kenneth Chesebro and Rudy Giuliani.
 
The Supreme Court entertaining Trump is like Obama entertaining gays.

And the prosecutions' games all along have been - tactically timed cases to cripple Trump and interfere with the election. It would be highly "just" if those tactics end up being ineffective.

The appeals court heard this case and ruled on the merits. There is no requirement for SCOTUS to take it as well. Doing nothing is saying, "Yeah, what they said." And of course if SCOTUS knew all along they'd want to have THEIR say, why let the process play out in the lower courts. They were asked to make an expedited ruling, let the case skip the CA, and declined. The point is there were a couple of options the SCOTUS could take and not unduly delay the trial of a former POTUS. And of course they should consider that in their decisions all along the way. They often take cases and rule quickly when doing so is needed for that issue/case.

That was exactly my first thought if the SCOTUS declares that the POTUS has immunity from prosecution. Marge, Cruz and Johnson better watch their back as well.

The latest lawsuit, regarding fake electors, is the 7th case (so far) brought by a state Attorney General. The other six states where the plot took place are Georgia, Michigan, New Mexico, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. These states all have open investigators into this fraud.

There's no mystery to the timing. Every one of these people that have been indicted have had ongoing investigations since the election. Arizona's investigation was delayed because a Republican was in power as Attorney General. Some states delayed their own indictments waiting and possibly foolishly assuming the Dept of Justice would bring the lawsuits, which they did not. Every investigation entails a lot of details including eyewitness accounts, email correspondence, phone records, etc. These things don't happen quickly.
