I see these demonstrators who want government to re-open things now out there together with signs that basically say that the government has not right to keep things closed. They of course are not keeping social distancing seeming to think that they will never catch Covid 19 or that if they do it will be no worse than the flu. My problem is that when I see then do this and I think they may or even will catch Covid 19, but I can not feel sorry for them if they do. I feel sorry for their families and their friends, but that is where my sympathy ends. We all want things to re-open, but something like 80% of Americans in the polls say not yet. Wait until it is at least as safe as we can make it. So, will you have sympathy for those who participate in these protests and catch the virus?

I have sympathy for everyone this Bug Out Of China takes.

Yes, I would feel sorry for anyone who has gotten COVID-19. The only people I do not feel sorry for getting it are people who I hate anyway, such as fascists, and tyrants like the members of the Iranian government. Meanwhile, most of the people who have participated in these protests simply want an easing of the more draconian restrictions like those imposed in Michigan and their livelihoods back.

People who genuinely would not feel sorry for people who sicken and die over such political disagreements are either people suffering from antisocial personality disorders (get help) or internet edge lords. A lack of humanity is nothing to be proud of to announce.

No, I wouldn't feel a bit sorry. It's like people who refuse to evacuate during a natural disaster. As you say we're all wishing we could be out going about our normal lives but right now that's just not safe. I wonder how many have people at home that could be high risk and if they even care? They didn't give two hoots about medical workers they blocked so probably not. I would feel sorry for someone who these idiots might infect though.

They might be backwards individuals but that doesn't mean they deserve to die.

Of course, I will feel sorry for them, for being ill and stupid.

Yes, I already feel sorry for them regardless of the virus.

I absolutely do. they have been forced to such measures by a authoritarian politician who wields their power without reason or consistency.

Nope, screw their ignorance and anti science. Amazing how readily they flaunt stupidity and ignorance.

I can't imagine where these Trump-lovers get it from!

I don't feel sorrow so much as pity. Like watching lemmings, you think "What a waste".

don't people here call those, like in Chicago, who do really dumb things and die or get arrested something like "Darwins"?

Who cares? Almost everyone who actually becomes sick with the virus survives anyway.

Except for the 34,000 in the US that died in the last month...

Miniscule number.

No, it isn't.

You feel so safe, go and seek out crowds, touch everyone, don't wash your hands, go ahead, I'll wait....

Never in my lifetime did I think a virus would come along with a death toll (annualized) that would equal or surpass the number of deaths from heart disease (had we not issued stay-at-home and social distancing orders) using data FROM ONLY THE FIRST TWO MONTHS.

There will be a lot fewer trump supporters in November, one way or another. One reaps what they sow....I try to feel for them but life is full of choices and each must make their own and live with the results.

Why would I ?
Why would anyone with a brain?
I will dance on their graves wearing a red dress and spit at their friends.

Amazing how the uber right is going to great lengths to be deliberately ignorant.

Why debate the unknown? Will people riot in the streets like they do in Venezuela if our economy collapses? When should we go back to work to save our nation from descending into economic depression? Can every last remnant of the threat of infection be eliminated no matter how long we quarantine?

Emotions are good, but that is not what we need to try to make the best decisions even though we cannot escape the fact that there are things we can only guess about but cannot possibly know beforehand.
