If GOP had more like Chris Christie they would be better off.

So the GOP does not like Gov Christie anymore. Why not? He seems to be one of the very few pragmatic consevatives out there and even though I don't agree with him on everything I would not mind him in the whitehouse. Don't get me wrong I would not vote for him but compared to idiots like Michele Bachmann or Louie Gohmert he looks like a genius.

Perhaps because the democrats still run people against the types of republicans they profess to love and give them tons of money to buy the position with. Moderates on both sides are the low-hanging fruit. When exactly was the last time the democrats endorsed a republican for office again?

I like Christie because he is blunt and not too afraid to speak his mind. I wish he would run for president.

I think its hilarious. The vast majority on this forum bitch and moan about how politicians dont get along, how the partisanship divides people, but as soon as Chris Christie and Obama start working together and getting **** done with the relief all hell ignites and next thing you know Christie is being hung out to dry by the vast majority of his party. Its hypocrisy, and its the problem.

I prefer dem's but I do admire how CC speaks his mind and calles out the far right in his own party like John McCain does.

The GOP has swung so far to the right they would have turned on Reagan himself.

And the democrats so far to the left they would never support Kennedy today. It cuts both ways.

I wasn't debating that fact. JFK came from a religous background and other than the fact he could not keep it in his pants he was a moderate or slightly conservative on many issues. The swing to the far right by the GOP is dangerous and anti freedom.

The same is my view as to the left, but that the progressives are so inclined to try to force people to do things, I consider them more dangerous and more anti-freedom. I guess it is a matter of one's worldview.

If you won't vote for him then what's the benefit in his moderation?

Because the rest of the GOP has ground the government to a stop in retalitation of the American public hating them outside the bible belt so they are stalling hoping the pendelum swings the other way. They know they have lost the culture wars so thet hope if the economy stays bad then they might win the whitehouse again one day without changing their redneck ways.

A redneck would have made more sense...

Then how do you explain 386 filibusters in the senate AP. They are do not want to give up their majority in the appeals court and in the supreme court so they are stalling by filibustering everything. They even had the nerve to try to change the number of court seats from 11 to 8 so they could keep their majority. If that is not desperate then you tell me what is. Why do you defend the GOP morons the way you do AP. Even Bob Dole said they have swung way too far to the right and that is why Americans have turned away from them outside the bible belt the way they have in 5 out of the last six elections. You have to be able to see that AP even though you do live in the bible belt.

James, how many Justices comprise the SCOTUS? Please, do not refer to morons unless it is in reflective thought...

Their is 11 in the court of apeals. I saw it on the news last night. The conservatives tried to reduce that number to 8. The court of appeals is one step under the SCOTUS. Their are no emty seats in the SCOTUS. Look before you call me a moron and you have not adressed the 386 filibusters. They are grinding the government to a stop and you know it.

How many Courts of Appeal are there James? Just because you saw something on TV doesn't make it true. For that, you would need context and a better understanding of the issue. As to filibusters, Harry controls the floor of the Senate, not the GOP...

Harry does not filibuster my friend. The 386 filibusters are the point. If that is not the GOP being the party of no then what is. The dem's did not filibuster Bush nominations the way this senate does. Why? Do they really hate Obama that bad? What is their problem? Are they desperate? It looks that way to me.

I thought you where a liberal so why do you defend these right wing hacks the way you do? Is there something in the water is the SE that makes you all conservatives? Oh thats right you are a liberal. You sure don't talk that way.

Harry decides when to force votes. Therefore, he is in control of everything he brings to the floor that he knows has no chance of passage...

Instead of trying to make me look wrong debate me AP instead of splitting hairs to try to look smart.

Then why is the GOp blocking all those nominies then? That is the party of no at work.

I've suggested to you before that researching the history of Liberalism might be beneficial, but you don't seem to have a desire to do so. Otherwise, you wouldn't continue making a fool of yourself regarding the subject...

As an independent, I voted for many repub candidates for president in the 70's and 80's, but not since 1988. If CC ran, he might get my vote, depends on who ran against him, but he would be hard for me to vote against. I find him pragmatic enough, and independent enough to tell the idiotic ideologues that have stolen the republican party to go jump in a lake, which is exactly what needs to happen. Deep six Paul Ryan and promote CC.
