Bernie Sanders is having heart surgery. It's relatively minor, but his ability to campaign will be severely restricted and he was already losing ground. Joe Biden is getting hit by all the attention on Ukraine.

The third debate is in less than two weeks. Will it all be over except for the rituals?

Poll did not attach. Could a Mod add one: yes, maybe, no, other.

Yes it will be over. Elizabeth Warren will almost certainly win the nomination. It will then just be a dog and pony show to see who will best be the candidate to act as her running mate.

The dow jones is down over 500 points because of this news. This makes it more likely that Elizabeth Warren could be president. Warren would be a disaster for our country and economy.

Famous hedge fund manager Leon Cooperman said the stock market wouldn't open if Warren became president:

Omega Advisors CEO Leon Cooperman appeared on CNBC to express his concerns and shared his predictions on what would happen if the Massachusetts senator was elected.

"There’s unquestionably a shift to the left in this country. They won’t open the stock market if Elizabeth Warren is the next president," Cooperman claimed.

Leon Cooperman fears a shift to left: '''They won'''t open the stock market''' if Elizabeth Warren wins

What do you mean by "will it all be over except for the rituals"?

Over for the Democrats? They still have Warren....but I guess on further thought, yeah, it will be over because she'll never beat Trump.

No, it won't be over.

The DNC needs to keep the theater going until the middle of next year. The show will go on...act after act.

The rituals are the primaries. They still have them even if the nominee is clear to everyone.

Nope, this is Bernie's last chance and he gets to donate any leftover campaign cash to charity - why quit such a great fund raising deal?

No poll. But I would say, yes, Warren would eventually become the frontrunner.

BWahahahahahaah!!!!

So the removal of the single most corrupt piece of **** president in history replacing him with someone who will hold Wall Street accountable for the first time in history is a bad thing in your mind huh? I really feel bad for people like you sometimes, honestly.

accountability?

She wants to break up banks and companies. That's not holding them accountable, that's a forceful takeover.

"Biden looking to be a disaster, Bernie looking to be on the decline, Warren looking to be unelectable... Interesting, verrry, interesting."

I hope Bernie makes a full recovery and continues his political fight.

Biden and Sanders will provide some cover I believe for Warren up to the primary, and then she'll be the candidate.
Anti-corruption - go Warren. First woman president, and focused on the issue of the day.

No a forceful takeover would be if she wanted to be the CEO of those banks and companies. When a major bank or corporation goes under it can take millions of jobs and our entire economy with it. Requiring mega banks and companies to be broken up in to smaller functioning units improves competition and protects the economy as a whole from the mistakes of 1 or 2. If we would have done this before the last crash we likely wouldn't have had a crash and even if we had it wouldn't have been nearly as devastating.

Why on why are we continuing to pursue having 70 year olds run this country.

Am sorry but this job is too important for someone older than 70y. Face it your mind is not as sharp as it was in your younger years.

If Bernie drops out it could lead to a surge by one candidate. It could be Biden, it could be Warren. You may also see a small rise by a few other candidates but probably not significant. The Bernie vote will likely go to Warren but Biden could pick up from it as well. It will be interesting to see. Speaking of Bernie, this calls his future physical ability to do the job in to call. Another problem Bernie getting out may cause is some voters may lose interest, particularly young voters and black voters.
So If Bernie goes out, and Biden falls due to the Ukraine issue, will democrats lose voters in the black and youth sectors?

(Let me preface this by saying I wish no one harm.)

Odds are Sanders was going to drop out anyway given the direction he was going in key states when thinking about the Primary order next year. Lots of eyes on Iowa, South Carolina, and California (and others) and the polling suggested he was only a Top Tier candidate when it became a 3 way split against Biden and Warren. That and others are gaining ground with a few that have already dropped out.

Out issue is this speaks volumes about the age of a candidate and the rigors of Campaign mode and Presidential mode. By the sources I can find it appears Sanders will be fine but there is relevant question to be asked about capability to continue on.

Having this heart condition requiring a procedure might be a graceful out allowing that support to line up behind one or more of the others still remaining, and I wish him well in his recovery.

Will it all be over except for the rituals?

No, but it's looking more and more like its going to be a horse race between Biden and Warren. I don't think we'll really know who has a real advantage until after the South Carolina Primary which is mid to late February I think.

Interesting thought...I can believe it.

I think you are on to something. She may get in.
This election is shaping up to be much like the last, with Democrats showering praise on their candidates until they lose... at which point they will do a 180 and say they only lost because a horrible candidate was thrust upon them.

I wouldn't put it past Hillary.

Given the fact that Barr's investigations impact on the Hillary campaign and the DNC (which her campaign ran in 2016), it would be to Hillary's advantage to run again if only to protect her from indictment.

Can't investigate a Democrat who's running for office, after all.
