If all of us old blue collar fossils stopped working.......

Germany was a great place to be when I was there. 1986 to 1992. I really enjoyed living in Gaertringen. No idea what its like today.

Not too many minutes away from Stuttgart at 130+ MPH. There was a Mercedes factory and IBM factory in Sundelfingen when I lived there.
Yeah. We are looking forward to it. We chose Germany because one, I am German and two, because it is centrally located in Europe.

I spent a couple weeks in Ramstien when I was in the air force reserves. Beautiful area and got to see Heidelberg castle.

I was stationed out of Patch Barracks in Vaihingen, and supported the nuclear theater under USEUCOM. Interesting communications happening during the first gulf war. Reenlisted to stay in Germany.

I started pulling SS at age 66 to not lose a percentage of benefits when I kept working.
But they still take SS out of my paycheck.

LOL.

I sometimes wonder what would become of the nation. Don't get me wrong, there are some younger people who are capable. But not many. Not enough to replace us.
Like it or not, we, and guys like me, built and maintain this country. Not paper shufflers and bureaucrats.

I don't think there are enough motivated generation Z to replace us.
I'm 69 years old, and getting tired. I want to go fishing. Mostly, I still want the paycheck, but sometimes I feel sad for the America without us.
A conscience? Ya. But it's close to time to move on.

If your hybrid electric car breaks.....good luck.
It's your fault that Gen Z isn't motivated. IT WAS YOUR GENERATION that started the sexual revolution and now we have broken families and broken boys. YOUR FAULT

69 and your still working? I don't like your politics but even I feel bad for you. I work blue collar and will be retiring at 62.

Why are you still working?
62 sounds inviting (I'm 65), but if you take early SS, any wages you earn are deductible (I'm not sure how the percentages work out.) I have a year and a half to go, and if I decide to work, I keep all my earnings plus all my SS.

I hope your retirement is wonderful, but I'm going to have to wait a little more. I plan on working part time.

Yes, irresponsible people blame others for their irresponsibility.

boomers left kids in broken homes. When will they take responsiblity?
Do you have numbers? I am a Boomer. I know what the society in the USA expected then. Yes, there were some broken homes, but it is the generations that followed that became increasingly irresponsible regarding kids without both parents. It was still unaccepted to have children out of wedlock when I was growing up. Today, it is perfectly acceptable.

You sound like the many old shit **** meat cutters I've had to handle over the years.

****ing retire already, so a younger guy with a family to support can take your place, making the money you've made the last 20-30 years.

Not to worry, there is plenty of Commies around to pick up the slack.
They wouldn't do the work, and when commies take over tens of thousands tend to die.

If that happened the country would break down pretty quick.

And who started that trend?
The trend was always there, but it was effectively flat. The increase came when government subsidies made it to where people no longer needed each other. This festered and we are now a society that sledom actually cares about others in meaningful ways.

BOOMERS STARTED IT WITH THE SEXUAL REVOLUTION

Do you think unprotected and sex out of wedlock wasn't around long before that? Where do you think the term shotgun wedding came from. People were forced at times not to run away from responsibility.

I'm not saying that it didn't exist, but it was much rarer.

How many "things" do you fix in a year? What percentage of "things" in US does this represent?
Probably too many thingies for him to keep track of. He's got his doohickies, his thingamabobs, his whatchamacallits and so many others it gives him a headache just thinking of them all. :p

Absolutely untrue.

There were bastards aplenty in the past, but they weren't important enough to write about, and memory lives only as long as the minds to hold them.

And who started that trend?

Why did they have plenty of orphanages back before then? They sure werent empty. My grandmother and her brothers spent some time in one..."broken family"...until my great-grandmother could find a way to support them all again.
