The release of migrants to shelters is common in El Paso, but advocates fear that the government may be dumping large numbers of immigrants on the streets to relieve overcrowding in the wake of the deaths of two children who were in Border Patrol custody.
Ruben Garcia, executive director of Annunciation House, an El Paso immigrant shelter that coordinates local assistance efforts for migrants, said immigrants would not be released to the streets on Wednesday, but instead will be placed directly into 11 temporary and permanent migrant shelters.
But earlier this week, ICE released hundreds of men, women and children at the Greyhound bus station in Downtown El Paso, leaving Garcia and others scrambling to find shelter for about 600 migrants beginning Sunday night and continuing through Christmas Day.

ICE releases hundreds of migrants in Texas, New Mexico, reports say
More than 500 migrants were released Wednesday onto the streets of Texas and New Mexico, U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement said, as the government struggles to detain illegal immigrants amid an influx of Central Americans trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border.
The release on Wednesday followed days of other mass releases by the agency in order to prevent migrant families from being detained longer than allowed. On Christmas Day, the agency released 186 migrants and another 400 were set free two days prior, Las Cruces' KVIA-TV reported.
More releases are expected Thursday, said Ruben Garcia of the Annunciation House, a homeless and refugee shelter in El Paso.
After a similar release Sunday, ICE blamed "decades of inaction by Congress" for limiting its ability to remove families who are in the U.S. illegally.
COMMENT:-
Fortunately none of those "decades of inaction by Congress" happened whilst the Republicans had a majority in the Senate PLUS a majority in the House PLUS the Presidency. If that had ever happened, then this situation would have been resolved almost two years ago. That proves that it's time to toss Obama and the Democrats out of office.
Right?
It's the courts that are preventing them from being detained or deported. The story says migrants, but really they are illegals. Im sure this has been going on for decades, but damn, this is not a good thing. Why are we not releasing them back to their own country?

Right?
Catch and release is alive and well. MAGA
The good news is that they still counted as illegal immigrant apprehensions and may even get caught again (and again?) to boost those all important immigration law enforcement statistics. MAGA even more!
Isn't that what Obama was accused of doing?

I feel sorry for the residents of those areas where those people were released.
That is expensive and requires due process.
It shouldn't. No passport? No Visa? Walk them to border and make them cross it.
What of the average citizen who has neither?

An average citizen does not have a birth certificte or drivers license or anything?
They should not leave the country and expect to come back in without some proof they are a citizen. Same thing we have to do when we go to another country.
That was a mighty fast moving of your goal posts. What makes you think that illegal immigrants lack any ID? The fact remains that police (federal or otherwise) can't simply pass sentences.
Thats what taxes are for. And we can change the process.

Wsa I supposed to list every single form of ID that exists in my first post for you to be satisfied?

Yep, if Jose and his (40?) friends cross the border from Mexico into the US 4 times and are deported/removed 3 times that is an impressive enforcement statistic (deporter in chief level stuff?) yet Jose and his (40?) friends are still inside the US.
Nope, I am simply pointing out reality - most illegal immigrants have ID and police can't simply arrest and sentence folks.
Read the Refugee Act of 1980 and treaties that prohibit that.
