Actually no - the national guard cannot act as law enforcement when called up by the President.

The can only do such when called upon to do such by a governor.

The military - and that’s the capacity of the national guard when called upon by the president - cannot act as law enforcement on US soil and against the people of the US.

If Trump wants to invoke the Insurrection Act

, which we know he’s twitching to do, then he needs to formally invoke it. Until then, the guard cannot act as law enforcement.

They can stand around protecting things, but that’s about it.


And frankly, it is absolutely DISGUSTING to watch MAGAs want to see the military turned on the people in LA.

Trump and his administration have caused this by how they’ve been handling deportations. It is all completely and totally unnecessary and a shame in the history of this country.
