I think on many things that's a possibility. We all have our biases and sacred cows. But I'd say my thoughts above were less "assumptions" than "plausible alternatives to the way things are being portrayed."

I would not feel compelled to obey law enforcement that hides their faces and won’t identify themselves.

I suspect a court would accept my actions as for all I could possibly know they’re not law enforcement at all. All their kit can be purchased online.

I won’t be surprised if one of these events turns out to be just that: armed cosplayers.
