I'm trying to get a handle on this and I feel like I'm in a rowboat with one oar and the current is too strong, but let me try another way; with a different oar.

Do you think a fence on ANY part of the borders of the U.S.A. is a good idea?

You know, for an example I remember so many years ago. My pa was stationed at Loring AFB up in Maine and Canada was up the road a bit and when we drove up there, we had to stop at this place where some folks would sort of look in the car and maybe ask a question or two.

Now what do you reckon was the reason for that little location and them kind officials?

Actually, I messed up there, didn't I?

They should be required to show their faces. That way if we catch them doing illegal/heinous things we can take pictures/videos of them. Then everyone will know their identity.

If there're zero objective metrics for the concept of "open border", it's probably just bullshit.

What if one of the above individuals assaults a US citizen? How is he to be identified pursuant to legal action?

The natural inclination if grabbed by an unknown individual wearing a mask and sunglasses is to resist. Then they have you.

You will be arrested whether or not they have an administrative warrant for your arrest. It's a scam.

No one is safe from ICE. Not a Mayor, not a US Representative, not a US Senator, not anyone legally protesting.

Did you know the US is a 'no laws against murder' country, unlimited murders? I mean, if I can show you some murders are committed, that means we have no laws about murder, right? That's your logic if you are saying imperfect border enforcement is "open borders".
 
I thought conservatives and MAGAs hated masks. All I ever heard during the pandemic is why do people still wear masks? and masks don't work.

I guess masks are good when MAGA's getting its jackboot thuggery on.

It absolutely is possible to allow ICE to cover their faces to protect themselves and ensure accountability. For example, they could be issued helmets that conceal their faces and protect against various sorts of attacks, and on the back of each helmet there could be a number. You could look up ice.gov/#### and type in the address you see the agent at and get confirmation that YES, this agent is there on legitimate business, please cooperate. Or, of course, they could send someone to investigate an anomaly.

In our creepy new phone-internet they would probably propose a creepier system whereby the person with a question snaps a picture of a QR code and has to enable GPS location to get an answer, so they have all that data, but if they also have GPS on the agent they would be able to confirm within feet that this was in fact an authorized agent, and they would have permanent records of where everyone was. While I am not cheery about that idea, the point is, they have no excuse to be sending around masked agents nobody can track, when you know, you know!, the whole thing is bound to become the biggest fad in home invasion robberies and torturing Bitcoins out of people that we've ever seen.

My goodness; somebody with good intentions. Good post. Good thinking.

I was actually thinking that if I were some 40 years younger and in a small unit command slot, I'd figure out a way to circumvent any law that would expose my unit members to any danger such as what a bad person might do to somebody or her/his family after an operation was finished. For example, order them to all wear gas masks, even if there isn't any gas in the air. At my court-marshal I'd just tell the colonel/general I smelled gas.

Anyway, just thought a written "cool post" was better than just that "Like" thingy.

Sooner or later someone is going to start shooting ICE agents because they act just like drug cartel kidnappers and people don't know whether or not they are actually law enforcement

Actually I agree with you. I remember a case out of Texas a little more than ten years ago. Deputies raided a house. For some reason none of the Deputies used any cameras to record the service of the Search Warrant. The man's home had a couple Marijuana Plants. The Deputies got a no knock warrant. They burst in and the owner, Henry Magee, opened fire on unknown and unidentified intruders. He shot and killed one of the Deputies.

The Grand Jury was expected to return a Capital Murder charge. But they declined to indict because Magee said he couldn't understand what the people were screaming, and believed he was being attacked by a gang of criminals. Stand your ground put a cop in the ground. Remember this was Texas which loves to give people the Death Penalty.

The authority of the Badge goes with displaying the badge. I'm a cop you will obey me works only if they know you are a cop. A bunch of people dressed like a gang of criminals covering their faces like as you pointed out the Cartels is liable to get brought under fire. Hell I'd think they were criminals if I saw it on the streets in town and I am usually armed.

And many of their claimed assaults are them actually assaulting the person they are arresting.
