I think we've found Elon Musk's political problem. He's deluded. To the point of insanity.

When the herd goes too much to the left, there is a force that comes to swing it the other way.

Now a few years of going to the right, another one will come in the future and bring it to the other side.

Newton's third law. The third law is also known as the law of action and reaction.

The question is why is Twitter not broken up? I love when people that never started a business in their life defend their monopolistic approach.

This is not what capitalism is about. The idea of capitalism is to encourage new ideas to compete. Try starting a social media and see how far you will go. It does not even matter if is better than Facebook/Twitter logistically.

Bust the trust! I can't believe I am agreeing with Bernie Sanders (was actually Teddy Roselvelt idea with big oil) on this one, did he even have a profession except yelling at the microphone the same ideas all over again?

Really? Where has it been shifting?

Economically? The US has become more and more hyper Capitalisitic in my lifetime.

Socially? I could give you that... but hating on the gays became passe for a decade... it is making a comeback.

Guns? Even a whiff of putting up a minor inconvenience to obtaining a firearm is political death.

The right controls the conversation in this country. They can make up something like CRT being taught to children and people go apeshit.

So... just how is the political center drifting left?
Socially in most every way one can think of.

Economically:

we now have univesal health care, which would have been "commie talk" 30 years ago.
Countless government programs that didnt exist 40 years ago.
rampent student loans many of which are likely to be forgiven because it was so over done.
Serious talk now of universal basic income from the left, which would have gotten Someone canceled as a commie 40 years ago.
It would have ruined careers to talk like many libs do economically. Some of those things might not happen, but the political climate has shifted far enough left that many far left ideas are a real possibility now

Pot on the verge of full legalization.

We are in a vastly different world and no left person would choose 40 year ago politics over today. Please be honest here. It's pure gaslighting to claim otherwise.

That's an interesting perspective I had not considered. You're saying it's a $41B PR stunt
I admitted it was a "pie in the sky" CT theory. But leave it to some trump lover to bash me about it. Hope you're having a good time.

But the Democratic Party is pretty much where it's been since1932. You would have to look to Germany with its book burnings and putting people in camps to compare the Republican Party to anything in 1932.
Not even close. The US went way to the right after the depression. The new deal stuff became commie talk no self respecting American could tolerate.

A few people wrote in to let Elon know that they fixed his graphic for him.

View attachment 67388222
Fascism belongs on the left side of that graph. Conservatives aren’t into a large central governments with extensive controls over social and economic life. Those on the left generally are. Fascism is merely the next stop on the control dial.

If you’re looking for the extreme version of (American) conservatives, it would be anarchy; i.e. a situation with less government than is needed.

Just FYI showing that some republicans have moved further right is not proof that the democrats haven’t moved further left.
Maybe do a little reading.

Yeah... Democrats shifting back to 1930's policies.

Very regressive. And time and time again the Progressive wing is neutered by the Corporate Centrist wing of the Party. The Progressives have yet to pass anything that they want. Heck... there is even push back for forgiving some student loan debt.

People wonder why Biden is unpopular among the young? Because the party has been incapable of moving on the issues that they are concerned about.

Meanwhile in the GOP there are members of Congress who are hanging out with Neo-Nazis and not an eye is batted... but talk about one coke orgy and you get smeared. It is a topsy turvy world over there.

There are members of the GOP who are campaigning on trying and executing their political enemies and to have the response be "Well the ineffectual Progressive wing thinks that people should have health care" and point to that like it is in the same Universe is bonkers.

It’s funny seeing you in one post try and claim the party hasn’t shifted to left recently and in another talk about how the party has shifted further to the left.

I admitted it was a "pie in the sky" CT theory. But leave it to some trump lover to bash me about it. Hope you're having a good time.
I'm not bashing you. I genuinely think its an interesting possibility that has merit. I don't think it entirely explains what he did but it's possible it's part of his calculation.

But that's not all he said, is it? "and to the secret service, if they are listening...."
We are accusing some on the right for posting out of context (Biden bloopers), but it is ok when it serves the left?
True, that dude is despicable, but let people decide that for themselves instead of misleading them.
You're comparing idjiots approving a fascist political speech advocating execution of political opponents with "Biden bloopers"
yet you don't recognize you've self radicalized to the condition of posting incoherently? If this is not an apt description of your
defending of the indefensible, what is?

I'm hoping you'll snap out of it.

That outpouring of young white people demonstrating against police brutality against blacks has whiplashed into the right-wing banning talk of racism and use of SEL strategies in classrooms and the banning of books in school libraries.

Socially in most every way one can think of.
Not hating on gays? That was settled... but the GOP is reopening that front.

It used to be that everyone but rabid kooks agreed that in case of rape a woman should not be forced by the State to carry that to term. Now the GOP is passing laws that would force women to carry to term a pregnancy that results from Rape.... So who has moved far right on that issue?
we now have univesal health care, which would have been "commie talk" 30 years ago.
Nixon tried to do it. We as a nation are to the right of Nixon on that issue.
Countless government programs that didnt exist 40 years ago.
Which countless programs have been created since 1982? The height of Reagan.
rampent student loans many of which are likely to be forgiven because it was so over done.
It would suck for individuals instead of large banks to get a bail out...
Serious talk now of universal basic income from the left, which would have gotten Someone canceled as a commie 40 years ago.
Nixon proposed something like a UBI. Once again.. we as a nation are to the right of Nixon.
Pot on the verge of full legalization.
That is not a left/right issue but a freedom issue. it has broad support among both parties.
We are in a vastly different world and no left person would choose 40 year ago politics over today. Please be honest here. It's pure gaslighting to claim otherwise.
Over 40 years ago the Nation was much more economically liberal. Heck... in the 70's Abortion wasn't that big of an issue until the GOP swallowed up the Moral Majority and for the first time found an issue that was once only important to Catholics and make Evangelicals really care about it.

Here is a GOP candidate for Congress advocating putting on trial and executing perceived political enemies... and people applaud.

So now tell me again how the left has moved so far to the left again?

But that's not all he said, is it? "and to the secret service, if they are listening...."

No, I am comparing misleading statements and hypocrisy.

DeSantis would like a word.

Jim Crow tells us that fascism in this country does not need to come from a central government, but can come from these "laboratories of democracy" that are now banning speech in schools and businesses and books in school libraries.

It’s funny seeing you in one post try and claim the party hasn’t shifted to left recently and in another talk about how the party has shifted further to the left.
In almost every way on economic issues we are a more right leaning nation than in the mid 20th century.

But that's not all he said, is it? "and to the secret service, if they are listening...."
I call for the trial, conviction and death of my political enemies and when I say that I mean that there should be a trial, he should be convicted and then put to death.... yeah... so much better.... not fascist at all.

classrooms and the banning of books in school libraries.
I see so the left is preparing the list as to which this shift has happened. Because of x,y,z,w. I won't get into the racial/sexual education aspect as that is an area where emotion rules, not reason.

Looking forward in 5-10 years, when Elon Musk will sell it to someone that views the world as you. I look forward to the list from right -> as to why the future shift will happen. I have a feeling they will say something similar like you, something about censorship to not show certain aspects.

Until then noise and more noise. Glad when I was very young this concept was explained to me, is funny to watch both groups of highly charged fans argue while Twitter becomes a monopoly -> if is not already there.

Keep telling us how the left hasn’t shifted to the left by telling us how the left has shifted to the left.

Why don’t you go tell your theories to all the authors of the links I posted and the hundreds more just like it.

The left have moved so far left theyre now to the right of the fascists.
Uhhh.... these two openly fascist assholes are running for U.S. Senate in G.O.P. primaries, bankrolled and advised by Musk's friend and former business partner, openly fascist Thiel.... you are projecting.

https://webcache.googleusercontent....ng-his-biggest-bets+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

"...Thiel has given more than $10 million to super PACs supporting the men’s candidacies, and both are personally close to him. Vance is a former employee of Thiel’s Mithril Capital, and Masters, until recently the COO of Thiel’s so-called “family office,” also ran the Thiel Foundation, which has become increasingly intertwined with this New Right ecosystem. These three—Thiel, Vance, Masters—are all friends with Curtis Yarvin, a 48-year-old ex-programmer and blogger who has done more than anyone to articulate the world historical critique and popularize the key terms of the New Right. You’ll often hear people in this world—again under many layers of irony—call him things like Lord Yarvin, or Our Prophet..."

"Under his Moldbug pseudonym, Yarvin gave a talk about "rebooting" the American government at the 2012 BIL Conference. He used it to advocate the acronym "RAGE", which he defined as "Retire All Government Employees". Acting as a provocateur, he described what he felt were flaws in the accepted "World War II mythology" alluding to the idea that Hitler's invasions were acts of self-defense. He argued these discrepancies were pushed by America's "ruling communists", who invented political correctness as an "extremely elaborate mechanism for persecuting racists and fascists". "If Americans want to change their government," he said, "they're going to have to get over their dictator phobia."

Alt-right

Yarvin has been described as part of the alt-right by journalists and commentators. Journalist Mike Wendling has called Yarvin "the alt-right's favorite philosophy instructor". Tait describes Unqualified Reservations as a "'highbrow' predecessor and later companion to the transgressive anti-'politically correct' metapolitics of nebulous online communities like 4chan and /pol/." Yarvin has publicly distanced himself from the alt-right. In a private message, Yarvin counseled Milo Yiannopoulos, then a reporter at Breitbart News, to deal with neo-Nazis "the way some perfectly tailored high-communist NYT reporter handles a herd of greasy anarchist hippies. Patronizing contempt. Your heart is in the right place, young lady, now get a shower and shave those pits."

Yarvin came to public attention in February 2017 when Politico magazine reported that Steve Bannon, who served as White House Chief Strategist under U.S. President Donald Trump, read Yarvin's blog and that Yarvin "has reportedly opened up a line to the White House, communicating with Bannon and his aides through an intermediary." The story was picked up by other magazines and newspapers, including The Atlantic, The Independent, and Mother Jones. Yarvin denied to Vox that he was in contact with Bannon in any way, though he jokingly told The Atlantic that his White House contact was the Twitter user Bronze Age Pervert. ."

Bill Clinton was further to right on economic issues than Richard Nixon.

This just in... what's so extreme about fascism? Socialists should be comfortable with it, after all Hitler...blah, blah, blah.... LOL !

wow, so much desperate groping

Not sure what any of this means but it sounds like you might be confusing government censorship with business practices.

Is 9 AM here, I will be honest and say and I did not understand your first message either, I might have drawn an incorrect conclusion of your statement based on other threads I was reading, and this is why man needs a coffee, I will make it double double.

The best coffee:

IMO there are extremists on both sides but the far right has totally taken over the GQP party. Dems still have guardrails up in their leadership. Not so in the GQP as most serve one man and have become a cult. Also the GQP wants to go backwards sometime in the 50's and that is spreading around the world led by despots or wanna be despots. The former guy is a wanna be despot

I won't even get into how some GQP support Russia o_O

Unfortunately Musk has drunk the kool-aid as well and wants to be the King of Social Media much like the former guy is considered King among the GQP

No way anyone can claim the Democratic Party hasn’t shifted further left over the last couple decades at least not with a stray face anyway.

Hell you don’t even need to go that far back to find examples. It was not that long ago that the left thought border security was important and wanted to build a wall.

You can find literally hundreds of msm articles talking about the left shifting further left.
Hundreds of articles , ok then find one to post here.
That way I can post a reply with an article about the GOP retweeting Russian propaganda and disinformation.
