I predict Trump will be primaried in 2020

Kasich would probably do well in a general election but he doesn’t stand a chance in the modern day Republicans’ primary.

Pure :spin:

I'm betting you also predicted Trump would never win in 2016 either.

ETA: Kasich's best chances are to join up with the Democratic Party.
He is dead in the water running on the GOP ticket.

You shouldn't act like that's a good thing, and for reasons I alluded to many times in previous posts on other threads, I advise you forget about Kasich joining the Democrats. We do not want "Republicans". We have enough "Republican-Lite" as it is right now.

You thinking it's cute or funny that Kasich can't appeal to conservatives in the Republican Party might be the reason why Republican Party membership is shrinking.

Which of the indictments have something to do with trump working with the Russian go to rig our election?

These are all people that worked with Trump and that lied about contacts they had with Russia while working with Trump.

If you are not doing anything illegal you don't lie about it. They pled guilty to lying to the FBI about their contacts with Russia. These are people that were working with Trump. You think that they had contacts with Russia without Trump knowing about it?

If you do believe that, let me tell you about this piece of land in the Everglades that I am selling. It is worth millions but I am selling it for pennies. Want to buy?

Zero. This can't be emphasized enough. I've thought about it many times and in retrospect, I can't envision any other person in that large field being able to take on Hillary and the Clinton Machine.
My primary experience was the same as yours. Yup, couldn't believe Trump was on that ballot!
But, there he was vs. Hillary in the general.

Cohen taped his meeting with Chris Cuomo where he said in no uncertain terms that he did it-the payment. So, this is just more distraction and attempts to embarrass Trump.

If Cohen hasn't violated any rules or laws which would get him disbarred-and I don't know how that all works but it seems awfully underhanded to make a habit of taping your meetings without the consent of the other person or people-I can't imagine clients will be clamoring to hand over the big bucks to retain his services after this.

Exactly. He ruined his reputation.

I don't think an incumbent President has been defeated for renomination since Grover Clefeland in 1896. Even Herbert Hoover got a second chance in1932, despite having presided over the first three years of the Great Depression. Therefore history in on Trump's side.

I'm betting he gets challenged in the primaries, but it'll be by someone like Ben Sasse.

The only way I see your scenario panning out is if the GOP gets trounced in the mid-terms, loses both the House and the Senate, and turns on Trump in response. But even if that happens, it's even money whether or not he forms his own party and takes his base with him.

I think he's not going to run for a second term. I think he doesn't particularly like being president, and he doesn't have a lot of support from mainstream Republicans. I suspect if he makes it to the end of his first term he'll be "encouraged" not to run for a second and will probably agree not to.

One can only pray he forms his own party and takes his base with him at least if you are a Democrat

Herbert Hoover did not win a second term. FDR won three terms

Some of that I agree with, but I think you have a few things backward.

No one (relatively) liked Clinton. Very true.

Trump not beholden? He'd have been impeached a year ago if he wasn't rubber stamping everything the evangelicals (Pence) and the corporate Repubs send him. All of his judicial picks come from short lists he gets from the Federalist Society.

Wanna see his promised policies in action - look at the tariffs. No one (except some zombies) thinks that's a good idea. It's so bad he's had to pull 12 billion out to paper over the damage to 1 part of 1 sector.

I think Kasich, Bush or Rubio could have beaten Hillary, she was damaged goods that the GOP had been smearing for 25+ years. Any one of those guys would be at 60% approval right now.

The dems beat themselves, and the Repubs let a corrupt to the core loon get through their primary process by turning into an insult and dick measuring contest.

Both parties are pathetic at this point. They serve the donor class, no one else.

Want to put your money where your mouth is?

This is a debate Forum, not a gambling forum, and betting doesn't improve one's argument. Besides it's just a prediction not a claim of fact. Even if I were a betting man I would never bet on a prediction nor would I claim it to be anything other than a prediction. So I can only conclude you're offering of a wager is merely posturing on your part, a piss poor debate strategy

And Kasich, Bush, AND Rubio would have also been Obama 3.0 . As much as I dislike Trump, my issue was to protect the SCOTUS at all costs from the Left. And so far he's delivered. One or two more Originalist Judges and say buh bye to judicial fiat and activism.

I doubt it. Trumpists love him too much. If he is still eligible to run, he'll rout any primary competition. Only exception would be if he destroys the economy by then, which is possible.
Yeah, that 4.1% GDP growth announced this morning is a disaster.

Recent polls show Republican voters tend to side with Trump vs party powers-that-be. I think by 2020 what Trump manages to accomplish will outweigh the party label.

Yeah, that 4.1% GDP growth announced this morning is a disaster.

It's a good number. The fourteen percent corporate tax cut was a snort of coke for an already good economy. However, the coke hangover will come, as it always does.

Kasich is sane. He won't do any better in a GOP primary than he did the last time.

Face it - Trump's base would die rather than oppose anything Trump says or does.

But Trump needed a lot more than just the base to get elected last time. I would suggest that Democrats get more concerned over who their own nominee will be than whether Kasich or any other Republican challenges Trump. Trump will sweep aside any challenger and if the Democrats fail to wake up, he will sweep them aside , too. In the absence of a viable alternative, people will stick with what they know, even, as hard as it is for Democrats to believe, Donald Trump.

I'm beginning to detect the first hints of panic in our progressive friends. Trump's successes in the things ordinary people favor is cutting off most early Dem hopefuls at the knees. I almost spit coffee all over my monitor earlier this week reading dems latest "build the economy" paper. Mostly nebulous promises about stuff Trump is already doing, e.g. working with industry to train workers. I didn't see any mention of tax hikes but I'd bet a substantial amount hikes will be their first action to "pay for" the rest of their wet dream programs.

What's the matter, giving up on the impeachment fantasy?

Sounds like it.

Now on to a new fantasy. Kasich for President.
