I hope the world will remember the great leadership we have shown since WWII.

I think we've been screwing up to an increasing degree ever since at least Regan, if not earlier with that Vietnam bullshit.

I blame capitalism.

Not that we are alone in experiencing the negative effects of capitalism.
You must love Trump who is doing hi best to destroy enterprise, innovation and free trade. He is as destructive of a once thriving economy as were those you most admire, Stalin and Mao.

Honestly, I don't think things will ever go back to how they were between the US and her allies now. People are pissed and rightly so.

Trust is a big deal and Trump has shown that the US can not be trusted anymore. Friends don't do what he did.
I don't believe that either, but there are several factors at play, and there is still a small chance that things could return to the way they were before. But it's a slim one. When does that chance disappear? It disappears once the defense decisions the EU has now taken take effect and the European defense industry starts to build up across the continent. It’s the dependency on US security guarantees that has made the EU so "compliant" when it comes to advancing US geopolitical interests and has allowed for a quiet but systematic transfer of innovation, digital dominance, and intellectual capital to the US. Not through espionage, as in the case of China, but through structural asymmetry.

When the US is running full speed ahead , with the dollar enabling it to export inflation to other countries, and to absorb economic expansion from abroad into the American economy even without being directly involved, Europe, with its large market for global exports, diversified industries, and strong intellectual investments, has been the engine "underneath the train" (the US) that keeps it moving forward.

That engine will be fading along with the transatlantic alliance.

And I’ll be honest: Provided that the US doesn’t make a U-turn now (one that preserves the transatlantic alliance), and that we don’t end up in a war with Russia (or with the US, for that matter), then the EU will benefit from the direction Trump is now pushing. And so will I.

No.

To be precise, no I don't love Trump, and no I do not admire Stalin or Mao.
Why the hell would you think I did?

You express contempt for capitalism, which indicates admiration for those who seek to destroy the economic system which has raised much of the world out of endemic policy.

No, it doesn't.

It just means I have criticisms about capitalism.

Our country is having a problem politically now and please give us some slake.
What “great leadership”? America has destroyed more democracies than any other nation over the last seventy years and it isn’t even remotely close.

It's not just Trump but also Republicans in Congress and in his administration. As well as the right wing media. So I think the rest of the world can have long term trust in the US in 2037, at the earliest. Because the Republican party needs to be held accountable for Trump by losing the next two presidential elections. Just like the Democratic party needs to have a good candidate, policies and messaging so that they deserve winning those elections

While the Republican party will sooner or later regain power so they need to show that they can nominate and win with a decent candidate. First after all of that, can the rest of the world have long term trust the US again.

This is not a just a small blip and eccentricity. America after Reagan has been on a long and steady trajectory away from the America of FDR and World War II. This will continue even after Trump is gone. The Trump base is just too big, and will keep having its voice heard.

This is no longer your father‘s America.

America’s reputation is completely shot at this point. It’ll take a generation for it to be rebuilt, if ever.

Look at the bright side. We could have elected the bimbo. 🤷‍♂️
Yes if heading into a recession, the dollar losing reserve currency status, and no friends but Putin is the bright side. And it can be even brighter when Trump takes over the Fed!

Just admit it: Kamala sucked. I mean, what kind of “border czar” lets in millions of illegal aliens and is dragged kicking and screaming to the Southwestern border? She couldn’t manage a dog kennel. And, frankly, millions of hard-working American taxpayers aren’t sure they want things going back to “the way they were.” Europeans took advantage of the opportunity afforded by America’s defense umbrella and open markets to fund massive cradle-to-grave social welfare states. If Europeans value “work-life balance” above defending themselves, that’s great. Just don’t expect Americans to continue paying for it.

When you are the richest country in the world your friends are richer too. Without friends we will all be poorer.

The world would be safer in every way with the other candidate, and more prosperous in every way. Your response ruins your credibility.

Safer in every way? Let me remind you: Russia invaded Ukraine—twice—under Democrats, first with Joe as Obama’s “point man” on Ukraine, and then with Joe and the same Obama State Department officials and “national security” team advising his administration on foreign policy. And don’t get me started on how they thought placating Iranian autocrats was a good idea

Russia has admitted that they invaded Ukr. directly because of trump's weaking of democracy felt worldwide----all free nations were weakened and exposed. This enabled Russia. Trump promised to stop it as soon as elected-----how is that going????

We screwed up a good thing by electing an unfit person in Trump...........the world is disappointed, as it should be
I haven't voted for a presidential candidate since McCain ran.

IMHO, I saw in him a president that could work with both sides of the aisle.

The last person that ran, that I considered qualified was GHW.

If Trump had been elected instead of Biden, Zelensky would be dead and Putin would be in Kyiv executing Ukrainian patriot.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday described Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine as “genius” and “savvy,” praising his onetime counterpart for a move that has spurred sanctions and universal condemnation from the U.S. government and its trans-Atlantic allies.

“I went in yesterday and there was a television screen, and I said, ‘This is genius.’ Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful,” Trump said in a radio interview with “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show.” “He used the word ‘independent’ and ‘we’re gonna go out and we’re gonna go in and we’re gonna help keep peace.’ You gotta say that’s pretty savvy.”

“Russia has admitted… ”? You always believe autocratic governments like Putin’s Russia, or just when it suits your fancy?

Besides, your “facts” don’t comport with actual history. Russia annexed Ukrainian territory and used “little green men” to invade the country the first time while Donald Trump was still in Season 13 of The Apprentice. Trump-hating progressives blame him for everything, even when it’s impossible or really the fault of one of their heroes, like BOb (with one “O”) or Joe.

I agree that GHW was a good man that way.......................consider that HRC had a history of working with both sides, but I believe she lost unfairly based on her gender and image-based perceptions of her on TV

Assuming you mean Clinton, yeah we could have, and she would have been a better president.

For all the disagreements I no doubt would have with such a hypothetical presidency, of that much I am sure.

We did it TWICE and that is no longer an accident. The world is through with us and it will take decades to recover if ever. Our only allies now are Russia and N. Korea.

Guess what party was against the U.S. intervention in 2014???? Hint: not the Dems......

So another Trump supporter then. Trump loves people who don't vote. They got him elected. Voters in our democracy must choose the least dangerous person for America otherwise someone like Trump gets in. Trump will try to take away your vote forever and you are already most of the way there. Ignorance is not an excuse.

Hilary got where she went by riding Bills coattails, much like GW did his dad's. She didn't even carry Arkansas in 2016 election. trump beat her by 300,000 votes
