I don't think this picture actually represents motherhood or what a mother "multi-tasking" really means.

LOL

Yeah - nurse a baby and have people touch all over me and all sorts of crap like that? I don't think so.

But good for her - in this day and age of fake milk in a plastic bottle it's always nice to know that some mothers are dedicated to being the one to nurse their child rather than handing them off to a nanny. I imagine most celebrities wouldn't dare do what she's doing.

But does it represent motherhood? I don't think so - and I don't believe that's the point. However, if a lot of kids follow the example that celebrities set I'd rather it be one LIKE THAT and not - OH - meth and god knows what other foul habits they engage in.

It's a little obnoxious.

I was always taught coming from a somewhat wealthy family not to flaunt such things.

But meh, don't see any problem with it for the most part.

Well - I'm sure her day is like that all the time anyway. Celebrities always have a crew of people to poke and prod at them with colors and crap.

She has absolutely no scruples over showing herself like that in front of people which is where she and I differ strongly. I couldn't have nursed in public even if I WANTED to - the leakage alone every nursing session was enough to fill a swimming pool.

No amount of terry cloth or makeup would fix the horrid mess I was. LOL - oi . . . the days of carrying the baby in one hand while nursing and dealing with the other kids with my free smacker are so long gone, thank god.

Me and my wife only just started.

She's Japanese and she's extremely shy about that sort of thing.

Even if she's alone with my mother she'll go into another room alone to breastfeed.

At least she didn't hire someone to breastfeed the baby. :)

It's kind of irritating how many people are hating on her for this. She's been an advocate for breast feeding for awhile. I agree with her. Formula is ridiculously expensive yet young mothers are too busy to stay home with their child to take care of it. If we all (Americans) would scale our lives back and concentrate on what's important, our wives or girlfriends would have the time to stay home and care for our children. Whether anyone wants to believe it or not, that is what women are supposed to do the first few years of their child's life. They are supposed to be constantly doting on their child. If anything, the fact that they have breasts and they provide nourishment proves this. Formula isn't something that mother's had in the early days of this world. They didn't throw a can of powder in a diaper bag and send their 1 month old off to some nursery with people they didn't know just to make a few bucks.

Haven't you ever heard of a breastpump? It's not that hard to breastfeed, take care of your child, and work. I did it just fine and so do many women I work with and know. I don't want to stay at home, I want to work and earn my own money and be able take care of myself, not rely on someone else. I had a very trusted daycare provider, an at home one across the street from my mom whom I've known for 15 years and grew up with her children and was very supportive to bring breastmilk instead of formula.

Your stereotypes about working mothers, who can't possibly breastfeed and just throw forumla at the baby, are just that - stereotypes.

Different women will have different views on it, obviously. I don't think it matters one way or the other.

Just because SOME celebrity women choose to breastfeed doesn't mean all women have to do the same. We don't all have to have children in the first place, for that matter. Both motherhood and breastfeeding are optional, which means a woman can opt out of either or both.

I say good for her, spend some of Toms money. And if the baby needs breast fed in the mean time, do it.
Much ado about nothing. As usual from the land of the jealous.

I'm not a shy person but I do believe certain activities should be private - I didn't nurse in front of people save for my husband and children and that was only out of pure necessity. Nursing made me emotionally vulnerable and disorganized, not a time for socializing. On a good day - maybe I wouldn't cry.

Well - I think saying "it's not hard" is a misleading statement. It is very difficult to balance all of those things - you're just superwoman. :D

It represents what motherhood is for her. I have no problem with it. As someone else has already said, at least she's breastfeeding and not trundling her baby off with some other handler.

Also, in her profession, modesty is not a thing. They constantly dress and strip in the presence of others.

I SEE naked people. This is not because I have the uncanny powers of Haley Joel Osment or because I own X-Ray Specs. It is because looking at naked people is part of my job. Twice a year for a month or so I find myself spending a great deal of time backstage at fashion shows. And few other settings come to mind in which observing or standing alongside or quizzing people who are wearing next to nothing is an occupational ... well, hazard is not the word.

That these people happen to be among the world’s most beautiful does little to diminish the surreal dimension of the circumstances. Consider what it is like to take notes as Gisele Bündchen holds forth while dressed in nothing but a G-string and you will get the idea.

Im also aware that breast pumps don't allow the breast to fully replenish/enrich milk the same as if a baby had emptied the breast. I applaud you for making do and making sure your children receive nourishment though. I know that breast pumping can be viewed as a hassle by some. :peace

Kudos to her for breastfeeding. Using her as an example of anything MORE than that seems a little ridiculous, given that the average woman sure as hell can't have 5 people attending to her physical appearance while they're doing it.

It's Gisele. She can do whatever the hell she wants - and if the baby's ever not hungry, I'll take up that slack.

I already know that she digs Michigan grads who look like pretty boys. I'm an easy transition from Tom.

So, you would drink breastmilk just to put your mouth on Gisele's boob?

How dare her... what? I don't see the problem, especially with no context. I mean I couldn't imagine other working mothers wishing they could spend a little time with their kid while at work, never could imagine it...

Dude, have you ever tasted breastmilk? I don't think Gisele would appreciate you throwing up on her boob. Nor Tom.

I've never had it (at least not in the last thirty-something years), but I heard it was sweet and not too bad tasting.

Of course, the secondary factor is that if Gisele gives me permission to suck on her tits, I'm pretty much set for life. Buying me a jet ski doesn't seem like much of a stretch after that.

So this is all an elaborate ploy to get a jet ski?

because kids who are fed formula don't receive nourishment?
