As a Californian, I don’t really understand the indignation from outsiders over Newsom’s future selection of an interim senator to fill the balance of Feinstein’s term. We elected him because we generally agree with his politics.

There is a primary election in spring 2024 for the seat, and there are already a number of declared candidates, two of which are well known throughput the state. One of those two, Katie Porter or Adam Schiff, will be California’s junior senator.

I can imagine the indignation of non-California conservatives were Governor Newsom to announce Schiff as Feinstein’s replacement.

Of all the other objectionable things Newsom does, it's wild that the thing people get mad at is one of the good things.

Iike when people got mad at Biden for appointing KBJ, who is objectively a superior jurist to the three white fascists Trump put on the court.

The country would be a much better places if more Black women were in positions of power as opposed to the system we currently have which privileges mediocre whites under the false guise of meritocracy.

That’s such an unjust burden on white men to appear that they care about others who are not white men. What a heavy load to carry, but they could also quit politics and not be obliged to pretend that they care about POC and women.
