Hmmm, according to the linked article, conservatives are more reactive to disgusting images. I'm not sure that's necessarily a bad thing.
Sooo.....Conservatives avoid the poo while liberals wallow around in it? I think I'm picking up what you're laying down!
Well, that wasn't exactly what my train of thought was, but I can see how one might take it that way.
What I was saying was that seems quite appropriate to me, to be repelled by disgusting images. I can't think of any reason I would want to NOT be disturbed by them.
I just get a kick out of all these studies that try to prove some physiological difference between liberals and conservatives. It's kind of silly but at some level it's also disturbing. I mean if you're searching for a "scientific" difference then what do you do when you find it?

Montague said in the press release, "I haven't seen such clean predictive results in any other functional imaging experiments in our lab or others." <snip>

my reaction : cool looking bug photo.
I like bugs and snakes.
I thought "that's one ugly motherfu..." Conservative? Perhaps.
Yet, not to completely stereotype women, but if it is true most women hate spiders and ugly things like this fella, does that make them conservative? Not easily, if we are lead to believe that they are more likely (depending on age, race, economic and relationship status) to be liberal.

My reaction was similar. I thought, "That's a bug." I guess I'm a liberal.
Fear creates conservatives .
Understanding creates liberals.
