I agree he is a jerk about it but he also stands up for his rights... and that is a good thing. I would argue that a cop that lies and tries to violate your rights is an even bigger asshole though. What assholes these camera guys are
It would be nice if they trained police more on when they can and can't demand ID.
That would help.
The either always protect you or they never protect you.All you have to do is accept the risk of the LOE taking you to jail. Your rights protect you after you're in the system, not before.
Just use my example to prove yourself wrong. The either always protect you or they never protect you.
So you think that lots of people have an attorney or can afford one?Just use my example to prove yourself wrong.
I refuse my ID to an officer. He arrests me. I have my attorney make an appropriate move, I'm released.
Think back to your high school reunions. The guys that became cops were all the assholes you dealt with.I agree he is a jerk about it but he also stands up for his rights... and that is a good thing. I would argue that a cop that lies and tries to violate your rights is an even bigger asshole though.
In America, everybody gets an attorney. Thanks for buttressing my point. Rights are protected once in the system. They may not be until then.So you think that lots of people have an attorney or can afford one?
You also realize that without camera footage a person is basically ****ed... it is their word vs the cop and that means losing.
Which again makes me wonder why people argue for defending the police. If they need better training, I argue they need MORE money put into the training. It would be nice if they trained police more on when they can and can't demand ID.
That would help.
You said "your attorney"... not some barely competent public defender that will plea deal 90% (or whatever it is) of their cases. In America, everybody gets an attorney. Thanks for buttressing my point. Rights are protected once in the system. They may not be until then.
You know people who are instructors at the police academy? Do tell! They teach them how to intimidate to get the info they want
Just use my example to prove yourself wrong.

Just because it is a part of it doesn't mean that it is taught well. We all have had shitty teachers in life.Knowing basic law should already be part of their training.
Ohio is not a stop and frisk stateIt would be nice if they trained police more on when they can and can't demand ID.
That would help.
Unless you have committed a felony in most states, that arrest is illegal.Just use my example to prove yourself wrong.

It'd be nice if there was some kind of standard of training that police officers had to meet.It would be nice if they trained police more on when they can and can't demand ID.
That would help.
Way too simplifiedThe guy making the video is unnecessarily dramatic.
You can refuse to show ID. The cop can either walk away, or keep harassing you. You can then walk away, and if the cop arrests you, just let him and deal with it later. File a lawsuit, and they will pay you a little money to drop it.
