Why is this a shock? Doesn't it cost 9 bucks or more for a pack of cigs in New York because of taxes? Why wouldn't these same people do the same to food they deem unhealthy under the guise of trying to make people healthier?

US$9, that sounds pretty good. Taxes in Aussieland have made a pack cost like AUS$14 and they're talking about making AUS$20+(like US$16 or more.) soon. Not to mention you can't smoke in a private restaurant or bar, only one register in a shop can sell them and they're going to make them have to be covered.

Some restaurants are getting rid of bad things on their menus. Chili's doesn't have the Awesome Blossom anymore.
