How should Americans celebrate Juneteenth?

How should Americans celebrate Juneteenth?

"Emancipation Day" isn't a federal holiday. It differs from state to state.

For example, in Texas, "Emancipation Day" and "Juneteenth" are the same thing (day).
So that means that Juneteenth is REALLY the day "all Americans were made free"?

Technically, no. There were a small few remaining slaves that were liberated later that year, when the 13th Amendment was ratified.

But Juneteenth is a celebration of the true end of the civil war - when the last of the occupied traitors who owned slaves were completely emasculated by having their property turned into people.

And they've (you've) been whining about it ever since.

I've been whining that slaves were freed? OK. You're liberal and therefore right about everything.

Lol, I've never even heard of Emancipation Day.
That makes sense. These days it's more common to be taught that slaves were NEVER freed and that slavery is still a real thing in the USA. Heck, in some places I'm pretty sure that students are taught that they are STILL slaves.

I went to City Hall on business, and found the place shut down, without even a note on the door.

Been nice if they'd have left at least a "Gone Fishin'" sign.

What day is "Emancipation Day," since you're such an expert on it.

Yeah, my state wants everyone to think there are still slaves. Makes total sense. 😀

All nations have their ups and downs, but when you look at the arc of human history I think a strong argument can be made that not only are we a great nation, we may be the greatest nation, ever, and for all the right reasons.
Both the Roman Empire has us beaten in longevity, government, military science, civil engineering, art and innovation. The Ottoman Empire beat us in scope, longevity and accumulated wealth. The British Empire has us beaten in longevity, scope, exploration of the unknown, trade literature and wealth.

We do have one attribute that nobody else can match. We are the most boastful of our greatness, although the English were a close second with their "Sun never sets..."

Wasn't it O-Biden that declared Juneteenth a federal holiday recently?
Just because Emancipation Day is not declared a national holiday means nothing.

The news traveled west from D.C. as soon as it could during that time period hence different days for different states.

Hello, what don’t we understand about a national holiday?

Sounds like fearless leader wants to rescind a holiday:

Too many non-working holidays in America. It is costing our Country $BILLIONS OF DOLLARS to keep all of these businesses closed. The workers don’t want it either! Soon we’ll end up having a holiday for every once working day of the year. It must change if we are going to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

What a novel way to learn American history.
Come to a social media site read about a poetic lynching.
I prefer to learn about our past by recalling the wonderful things we have done for other countries in the world.
So learning the bad things is not relevant…I see

Depends on where you are but in the US it commemorates the day Lincoln signed the Emancipation Act.

🤣

Ooo, this is going to be fun.

There never has been an "Emancipation Act," signed by Lincoln.

Lincoln made the Emancipation Proclamation, but that was at the start of the Civil War, and years before any slave was freed.

I know that you don't even know the date that it was issued, but you'll probably Google it before you respond. Let me know if you've heard that date refered to as "Emancipation Day."

In my state, it falls on the day slavery was banned in the state constitution.
