I know a black guy that got really mad when I described him as African American because he wants to be known as black and another who called me racist for calling him black. I think that they need to chill the **** out and stop accusing others of **** due to their issues.
I couldn't agree more! Though I know it as "F*** 'em if they can't take a joke."The best I can do on the PC front is practice "live and let live". If that is not good enough then I go to plan B which is "screw em if they cannot take a joke".
I agree with that but I see few people who actually believe it. For example, when my wife asks me "Do I look fat in this dress" she doesn't want truth, she wants comfort that her decision to buy the dress was correct. The problem is, I tend to tell her the truth because, to me, that's real respect for someone. My daughter likes that she can almost always get a truthful opinion from me but my wife never really has come 'round to my way of thinking - she calls it rude.Personally, I value truthfulness over happy-happy-joy-joy feelings, any day of the week. When you can get to the truth of someone's feelings, you can work toward something productive.

That's the great thing about comedians. They always tell it like it is....and somehow they get away with it....hmmmm.....
See, the thing is that comedy is the one medium in which you can be offensive and non-PC behind the veneer of humor. You can always expect comedians to tell it like it is, because they can get away with it if they are funny. But there are still boundaries. Tell an unfunny racist joke though, and expect to get your ass whooped.
It's amazing how much as astute parent can learn about themselves from their children.Having worked in the public sector for so many years, I got used to behaving politically correct about 90% of the time. I'm that way at home most of the time also. However, sometimes my daughter comes up with something that tells me perhaps I'm not as politically correct as I think. A few weeks ago, I said the word "Oriental." She informed me the correct term is now "Asian." Okay.
