I am a full time moocher. I have a right to what the government gives me based off a percentage of what the greedy rich earn. I also have five kids and sell drugs on the side. How else can you explain why my phone, TV, shoes, crab legs, and SUV are nicer then anything you can responsibly afford. After all, I did all this with only having a government education that was given to me by a teachers union.

as a owner operator in the 80's and 90's 200,000 to the truck, after that between $120,000 to $85,000 before taxes, take home about on average $75,000. To earn this income required being on the road for multiple days or weeks and driving 110,000 miles per year. This income could vary widely depending on loads, pay rates fluctuation and brokers.
Today as a company driver between 65,000 to 75,000 a year with a average work day being 13 hours.
Understand all that, if it doesn't work out, I'd like to trying a small time fishing gig.
Never done it before but I like to be outside working with live things.
I think there is a lot of room for small-scale organic farming and selling to local restaurants. I see a lot of that down here. This is a good example of a small business that has really taken off:

I'm really interested in berries for the most part.
I've cultivated raspberries successfully (they are really good when taken care of) but not blueberries yet.
It takes a lot longer to develop the southern rabbit eye variety.
3 year before the plant should be putting out fruit.
I have berries in my yard (blueberries). I'm hoping they put out this year, finally.

I have a blueberry bush, a raspberry bush, figs, a peach and apple tree. Having access to fruit in the summer rocks
The blueberry bush is 4 years old and this year we had to put a few bags in the freezer.
Wicked, I'm jealous.
What variety of blueberries and raspberries do you have?
purplish and red.
Ok, well my suggestion for raspberries, if you decide to expand your stock, is Dorman Red.
They were specifically cultivated to grow in the southern heat.
The only downside to them is their canes aren't erectlol and have to be trellised.
I had great results with these and no problems with disease or blight.
My wife is the one who planted them and eats them, so I am not sure. They are too tart for me.
I guess that makes me the perfect wife. :?
Ever try growing your own grapes?
Nope. I think next on the list is more apple trees. My goal is to be able to send my sons out in the morning and let them "graze" until dinner during summers :2razz:

That's awesome! I remember when we lived in Nevada, the children's home we lived in had a lot of property and they had all kinds of fruit trees. pommegranates, pear, apple, fig. We'd stay outside all day playing and snack on fruit when we got hungry. Never had to go inside. Plus it was super fun busting open those pommegranates. LOL
No it's not , I should have been more clear. My average work day is being on duty 13 hours a day. This is both driving and not driving which in entails loading and unloading freight. The maximum driving time a driver can do in one day is 11 hours and 3 hours on duty not driving, totaling 14 hour in one day. Although we must by law have ten consecutive hours off duty. Back when I owned my own truck I was in excess of 80 hours per week, and living on 20 minute power naps at the time I was running 48 states, now I am much older and wiser and stick within the legal limits. You're driving 13 hours a day? Is that allowed?
