To this very day the word commie seems to set some folks off as if we are still in the McCarthy era and many use the word as a weapon, including our very own beloved president.

Is there anyone on here who actually knows a communist? I don't.

At least as far back as 1917. The utter failure of the American expeditions into Russia to so much as slow the Bolsheviks down, even with the help of the British, French, and Japanese, directly led to the hysteria of the Palmer Raids, for example.

And then, of course, there was the routine denouncement of people like MLK Jr as “Russian agents”.

Ok I will put my and up. Though I tend to lean more anarchist than communist I can see how the two can fit together. Here is the rub though. How I define communist or anarchist is through study and thought and intelligent discussion on both pros and cons. But on this site and with most americans the discussion is always layered in fear and ignorance of both. As an example I have often asked of those who claim there are communist countries to point out just how do those countries follow communist doctrine. the answer is always silence. because they do not know enough about communism to answer and because they have only been taught to fear it. and fear always creates hatred. The incorrect and absurd belief of what communism is that many here have been taught to believe has nothing to do with how communism really works in the modern world.

Firstly, lets make one thing very clear. Marx was a philosopher not a preacher. Communism is a philosophy not a religion. Meaning that what marx said was only a building block about communism to create a better understanding of how it works according to how society changes both socially and economically. Rather than as would many americans here have it that because marx said something then that must be the way it has to be done.

Now for how does communism works in the modern world. It really is not about governance of a country because the social evolution to make that possible has yet to occur. It is about grass root level business and who has ownership of production. In todays world the ideology of communism exists in cooperative businesses where the workers are the owners of the means of production and receivers of any profit generated.

You say you do not know of any communists but you just might. Here is a link that lists businesses that can be said to fall under communist ideology.

https://www.nceo.org/research/employee-ownership-100-largest-employee-owned-companies
The NCEO’s Employee Ownership 100 list ranks the largest companies in the US that are majority employee-owned through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), (An ESOP-owned company is a business where a significant portion, or all, of the company's stock is held by employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan) worker co-operative, or other form of broad-based employee ownership. To be on the list, companies must be at least 50% employee-owned; most on the list are 100%. Collectively, these broad-based plans employ more than 655,000 people.

I do sometimes shop at Publix, which in my opinion is more expensive than other grocery stores around me. I guess those communists know a thing or two about profits? Communists is used by the right for it's fear value and has been for decades after decade.

It began primarily with Truman. The FDR had left Republicans devastated politically - FDR saved the country from the Great Republican Depression and WWII. What did Republicans offer? So they found created their issue - communism. There was some it under FDR also, though.

It worked like a charm on Truman - they had him supporting loyalty oaths and giving in to their demands, and Republicans won the presidency, Senate and House in 1952. And the country got McCarthyism.

Communism at its simplest is just a theory of economics. And all theories of economics are about trade. And all trade is done for profit. The main difference is that communism works as a trickle up theory of gain rather than the trickle down theory that is backed by billionaires and the republicans.

And some theories work on paper but not so well in real life applications.

Ive never met a fascist but that doesnt stop you libs from using it every other word here. So its really hard to take your whining seriously

Sorta like fascism is for the simple minded left.

Except for the part where you Trumpists are actual fascists and not just someone I disagree with about tax rates and healthcare.

Ive never met a fascist

I believe you are well acquainted with yourself so.

Stop lying.

And communism works quite well as is shown by the hundreds of businesses that are worker run. It is only the idiotic versions given by many americans here that does not work.
