How likely is it that Roe v. Wade will be overturned by next year?

I was actually wondering if it might run into some of the federal agencies who are tasked with handling matters that cross state borders.

Would the FBI get involved?
No. because this doesn't involve someone bringing contraband into a state.

What's keeping SCOTUS from giving the Mann Act it's original powers back?
that's an interesting argument-credit for that. Taking a fetus across state lines for illicit termination? except under the Mann act, the crime involved illicit activity in the state where the minor was taken, By definition, taking the fetus to a state where abortion is legal wouldn't qualify since abortion wouldn't be illicit in that state

Yep. You're correct.

Prediction:

The consequence of the foul timed nomination and confirmation to the SCOTUS of the amish-esque anachronism, Amy "handmaid" Barrett and at least three of four other white Roman Catholics nominated consecutively to the SCOTUS by two G.O.P. POTUS who had entered the white house despite not winning the popular vote, will be the end of the G.O.P. winning a presidential election by even an electoral college vote ever again if this minority of 74 million actually permits election results to decide.

Ireland joined the 21st Century and began allowing abortions in certain cases in 2013. In 2019 abortion became legal during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Let's wave good-bye to Ireland as we return to the early 19th Century. Careful, ladies, or conservatives will have you wearing corsets and vowing to obey your husbands at your wedding again.

Thomas, Alito, Barrett, and Kavanaugh I would guess would rule how I would want them too...Now...It is about getting another member to vote against Roe in the negative...
I don't know... BUT IF Alito's leaked paper is true Roe might actually be over!

How great that would be!!!
Not very great at all, for woman. Moscow Mitch must be beaming. 70% of Americans wanted to keep Roe v Wade. Obviously some R's are included. McConnell stole 2 Justices & dozens (if not hundreds) of lower court judges.

The people here that were claiming that those who predicted RvW would be overturned were "hysterical" are probably saying the same about people who claim that a nationwide ban will happen.

I don't think I said hysterical, but I didn't think we'd ever see this day. Mea culpa.

Abortion has been the top issue for many righties for decades, and their target has always been Roe.

Today's events were predictable, as are the coming effort for a nationwide ban.

They didn't leave gun control to the states, so anybody who believes they're going to leave "baby murder" to the states is on some powerful narcotics.

I was just looking back at an old poll on this question, conducted in Nov. 2016 only a few days after a candidate who ran on overturning Roe won the presidential election. Lots of votes and three-quarters said Roe would not be overturned due to that president's SCOTUS appointments.

With a fresh abortion case now SCOTUS-bound, what's the consensus today?

i was one of the people who thought it wouldn't be likely, but probably not for the reasons you like. Knowing republican's record, they're weak and always fold on the very last moment on any law or decision. I was 90% sure it would happen in this case, and yea, Roberts did exactly that, but we won despite it. It is literally victory beyond any of my expectations. Well done! I was demoralized, and i would say, until now, most of the conservative side was demoralized, but no longer! We have the clear upper hand, and we must press it to November!

LOL but that's exactly what the court did. Where does it say, in this opinion, that all states have to ban abortion? Where? you're not going to find it lol

I’d say extremely likely.

lol you just mad as hell! :ROFLMAO: if your state wants abortion, you get abortion. you just can't exert your will on my state. You no longer have any power in how my state runs things.

These things are not done all at once.
They will rule on more cases, and if they want to do such a thing that will give them an opportunity.

Woman who believe in a woman’s right to choose can crush the red tsunami in November.

Respectfully I believe you are wrong.

I didn't think this day would come. I should have seen the signs though with no challenges from the SC to the states that have passed restrictive laws.

That may be or it just may be that we have become more divided than ever. That is the side that is Pro-life will stand their ground and the side that is Pro-choice will also stand their ground. We've just become even more polarized if that is possible.
