This has to be a new topic given elsewhere political subjects, such as Sanders veers off of defending him to yapping about doctors.

So I googled trying to find out. If you think this is outdated, supply us with an update. I doubt things changed much since this last investigation.

Physician Compensation Worldwide

American doctors are the world's highest paid it is claimed to me by a hard core Socialist type who loves Sanders.

He completely BS'd the forum. The party's name if not relevant.

In fact, think this over .... many occupations, such as youtubers easily make a lot more income than any doctor can. Actors on average do not do well, but some of them earn millions per movie.

But to the point, socialism has globally made doctors a lot poorer than our system would.

Physician Compensation Worldwide
From a global perspective, who's earning more - American or foreign physicians?
By UO Staff | Fall 2009 | Vital Stats

United States general practitioners and specialists are among the highest paid physicians in the world, according to a 2007 Congressional Research Service report.

However, a direct cross-country comparison is challenging due to the varying standards of living provided by the same salary in different locations. Here are two ways of making the comparison:

One analysis adjusts salaries by purchasing-power parities. In this comparison, the numbers are adjusted to allow $1,000 to buy an equal amount of goods and services in every country, making it possible to appreciate the standards of living (Average Compensation in U.S. Dollar Purchasing Power, columns 2 and 4). General practice physicians rank at the top in this comparison, with specialists not far behind.

The other method of comparison takes physician salaries compared to the average national income by country— specifically, the gross domestic product (GDP) per capita (Average Compensation in U.S. Dollar Purchasing Power, columns 3 and 5).

Also, a fun little factoid: teachers make more than doctors (per hour) in the US.

Note: none of the links above account for things like misc government sponsorship to be more applicable to teachers than doctors, e.g. paying in full for college for Dr kids vs say teachers.

What are you basing your assertion that "socialism" is the cause of these differences? What do you even mean by "socialism"?

Also, why would incomes for doctors that are lower but still significantly higher than national averages and comparable to other qualified professionals, automatically be a bad thing?

My assertions derive from the study of the other countries mixed in with the USA. I mean by socialism what Bernie Sanders means.

Why would we want lower doctors wages? Well cut off their major expenses so they can provide us services for lower costs.

1. Government costs
2. Insurance costs.

American healthcare is not the most expensive in the world because doctors are paid too much. Literally nobody has claimed that.

This is vital.

The study does not prove they are the highest paid.

Yes, it does.. Try reading it if you don't understand how the chart works look for help...

I don't care what Sanders says, I was asking you.

Regardless of your definition, you'd still have to explain how it is the primary factor in determining doctors pay and how the wide and diverse range in those figures could be explained by that single binary distinction.

Why would we want lower doctors wages?
I didn't say I wanted to lower doctors wages. I asked why is would automatically be a bad thing that doctors are paid somewhat less in some countries.

Well cut off their major expenses so they can provide us services for lower costs.
Surely we'd want to do that anyway. The funding of healthcare services is a complex issue. Doctors wages is just one small part of the element to do with staff compensation. If you want to actually improve the system, you need to look at it holistically.

Yet you can't point to one single Democrat who blames doctor salaries or whose healthcare plan cuts doctor salaries. You have no problem shifting the blame from insurance companies and corporations that charge $1000 bucks for a saline bag and $10k for a broken arm to doctors. You're pushing the dishonest narrative because you have an agenda.

Doctor bills are not the primary issue. It is the insane hospital charges. Surgeon bills are usually quite moderate compared to say hospital room or pharmacy charges. Doctors just generate a lot of volume.

WOW

As normal, I never call socialists who really want very much to be full blood socialists, by faking accusations as the above is faked.

I can't do what? LMAO That is funny. I blame insurance firms. So that is a no go charge. I have one agenda. To free America from the socialist nonsense democrats sell to them.

I had bypass surgery and it involved in order, my cardiologist and then the Surgeon and the hospital. So I know where the costs came from. The major charge was the operating surgeon.

Hospitals definitely pile up charges. I could easily have stayed in the best hotel in SF with a lot less cost.

This post was to refute a claim that Americas doctors are the highest paid in the world. Clearly they are not the highest paid.

That is the nature of this topic. To use my provided link to look at it holistically and not hostilely.

Doctors come from all over the world to work in the US because they make bank here

my cut thumb cost two grand out of pocket with good insurance because it happened late at night in the wrong geographical location. that's a ridiculous system, and it's time to replace it.

We are not in first place nor even in 2nd place. Did you ignore the word Netherlands pays the highest costs for doctors?

There would be lots of variables, including number of procedures. I know a cardiologists who makes $50K take home a month, but at the same time I think the gross billed charge by the surgeon at one of the Top Tier hospitals in the US who did a AAA repair on my grandpa about 6 years ago only charged $4800 gross for a procedure that took forever and a day to complete

First we all need to stop honoring it as a system.

It is a complex conglomeration of various places and ways to spend money.

The day of my bypass surgery, it was a long day for the Surgeon yet he performed 5 that day. I was his number #2. I shared the hospital room with patient 5.

My surgeon cost in 2011 about $225,000 for the surgery. My cardiologist cost me a couple of thousand. For all of his time and care.

My most recent surgery was to surgically repair my ear was reasonable. Not nearly what the cardiologist charged. I have to look up his billing but recall the cost was very reasonable and not over a thousand.
