Why do you keep avoiding my direct question to you citizen turtle? Is your home invaded from armed folks on a weekly basis or something? Have you citizen turtle ever had to shoot another citizen for the protection of your home or family?

I've said over and over if you have a thousand firearms it's ok with me. I don't see any plausible reason unless you are a serious collector but to each their own.

1) i really don't care what you think as to how many firearms a lawful citizen may own and no citizen has even the slightest duty to justify that to you or anyone else

2) No one can tell the future nor predict what sort of criminal attack he or she may have to face. Therefore, a prudent citizen will be well prepared no matter what possibilities are presented. It HARMS NO ONE if honest citizens are well armed and well stocked with arms and ammo.

So you rule out gun seizure and regard the claims of those gun owners who openly state their fears on this as unfounded hysteria ?

So you rule out gun seizure

Yep

That's an intolerable act(wink)

I agree to an extent about what you may have to face. The cops one night might get the wrong place and show up at yours banging on the door not announcing themselves and the next thing you know your front door is being knocked off its hinges. In that case, I hope you are the shot you say you are. You still haven't answered my question citizen turtle.

I have no firearms nor do I have the fear you apparently also have. Guns are fun to shoot and unless you are going hunting or the range, to me, there is no reason for them to ever leave your house.

I've proposed this for years. You get caught outside your house with a gun that's legal, six months in jail. Not legal, two years in jail first offense and it increases from there. I would suspect within a couple of years our guns on the streets would start dropping especially if the second time an illegal gun was found you got five years in prison and ten for the third and that's just found. Commit a crime with a gun an automatic five years in jail. Use the gun, ten, shoot someone fifteen.

criminals face 5-10 years in federal penitentiaries if caught.

that is a major difference

So you're saying that laws work ?

That a "No Guns" sign outside a school has an effect (on criminals and would-be criminals that is) ?

if we enforce the laws that actual punish criminals, they work. what doesn't work are stupid laws designed to harass honest people

so you want to jail people who wish to hunt or actually shoot their guns for recreational or practice? You also don't want anyone to be able to legally carry a gun for self defense. That renders you-IMHO-an advocate and ally of violent criminals

But why wouldn't they work if we enforce hem and with say a 5 year prison sentence as a minimum ?

Brush up on your reading comprehension, I didn't say any of those things. I don't want folks carrying firearms out of their houses unless they are going hunting or to the range. And you still haven't given me an answer.

You are brain dead when it comes to this subject. Your point of view is the only correct point of view so much so you twist my words into stuff I didn't say.

Would you support restricting people sporting and vermin control guns ?

I am all in favor of enforcing laws that prohibit objectively harmful criminal behavior

why did you ignore my main point-you don't want honest people able to defend themselves on the streets-thus you are allied with violent criminals and support them having a safe work place.

Now that right there is funny no matter who you are!

Wish in one hand and ............

None of that will ever fly

Why do you keep ignoring the question I've asked you at least three times? Is it possible you've never shot a home invader? Never shot a criminal on the street as citizen turtle? Never actually needed a firearm for any protection? I don't want anyone walking around on the streets of america armed except law enforcement.

No kidding. America's love of guns is frightening.

But do you accept that a "No Guns" sign outside a school can be enforced ?

in some cases. if you have metal detectors with armed guards at the entries to a school-yes

I shot a mugger who attempted-with a confederate) to rob me in an alley by my apartment. So you want honest citizens to be unarmed so that violent criminals have nothing to fear when they attempt to rob or rape someone on the streets. That sort of thinking I find poisonous

But do you accept that a "No Guns" sign outside a school can be enforced ?

Yep, in fact placing such a sign should mean that such (effective) enforcement is in place. We have far too many laws which are not accompanied by serious enforcement efforts - that, IMHO, leads to an attitude that laws are merely suggestions.

Based on the Democratic Parties historic inability to pass any meaningful gun control legislation when they held the power to do something I would say they will not be any real changes. There will be some grandstanding but at the end of the day democrats don't really want to do anything about the gun violance, they prefer to use it as a campaign tool rather than come up with a workable solution.

Yep, because that "workable solution" would mean locking up large portions of their 'base' on (illegal) gun possession charges. Such "gun control" nonsense would soon face the same popular backlash as the "war on drugs" did - thus no serious dent in the demand (user?) side (aka guns on the street) would result.

That would result in a situation where only LEOs and criminals are armed - making the typical crime victim very unhappy with that result. When seconds really matter, the police are only minutes away.
