It wasn't serious as everyone knew it had zero chance of passing the other chamber or being signed into law. If it was serious, the Senate would not have left town. It wasn't even a basis of reconciliation or negotiation. Negotiation 101: if you can't put an offer on the table that can not be the basis of a deal, its not serious offer.
Or more likely large portions of it will pass into the hands of businesses owned by democrats who will launder the legitimate taxpayer dollars and give it back to Obama and his fellow travelers to be used as walking around money in the next election cycle.I don't want thos bill to be passed. It'll be $694 billion down the toilet.
Let us begin with the word you are missing. Illegal. They have entered the country illegally. We can eliminate the comforts of the welfare state and we will have Americans working again instead of plundering their neighbors.they're coming here to look for opportunity. the fact that they are willing to take a horrifyingly awful trip from Central America through Mexico speaks volumes about the conditions that they are trying to escape. we have entire sectors of the economy which largely run off of their labor.
you honestly believe that they are making that trip just to suck up government benefits? man.

Throw them out and declare the state who helped them arrive at our borders as hostile nations.
I don't think it is illegal to apply for humanitarian asylum in the USA.....yet
The only money that needs to be thrown at our Southern Border problem (border in general) is supporting the National Guard as they militarize the border.
Our government working perfect. A two party system, that is hyper-partisan is the only way to go.
Nope, only if you cross the border illegally first and then ask for it as an excuse to stay. And once again, the humanitarian asylum thing is bogus in this case. They are gaming the system.
The NG doesn't do squat and is not authorized to. The sending of NG troops to the order by Perry was just political posturing.
Fraud in the inducement has always been illegal.I don't think it is illegal to apply for humanitarian asylum in the USA.....yet

Yep not serving the people or getting anything done due hyper partisanship is the way to go. I don't know what your smoking but I want some.

When you claim hyper-partisanship I am sure you mean the evil democrats not caving to reasonable Republican requests.Yep not serving the people or getting anything done due hyper partisanship is the way to go. I don't know what your smoking but I want some.

Therefore what?i'm not interested in how you feel about the immigrants.
Establishment Republicans are looking for some underhanded way to achieve amnesty without their base understanding the establishment Republicans have deceived them.if Republicans were as pissed off as they claim to be about the immigration problem, here's what they'd do :
1. every job from dishwasher to CEO goes through everify.
2. businesses found with undocumented workers are fined $10,000 per worker per day, even if it's a subcontractor, and even if they claim they didn't know.
this draconian plan would remove the draw overnight. however, it would shut down big ag, and food prices would skyrocket.
the fact remains that the draw is the private sector, not the public sector.
the solution i prefer is amnesty, everify, and an immigration system that is more Ellis Island than wait ten years in line. it will do the economy a lot of good to bring this part of the labor market out of the shadows, and deporting all of them is something that i'll never support.
i understand that we'll never agree on this. however, you must admit that the draw is the private sector, which wants cheap labor. you can rage against the government all you want, but the private sector is hiring them, and is the reason that they are coming here.
also, we should do something to help central America develop. i'm not sure exactly what that looks like, but it is a piece of the puzzle, and we should be brainstorming it.
Sure. But it is the mandatory spending that is killing the nation.Cuts to social security, food stamps, and other forms of discretionary spending is reasonable?
What a great pretext for an invasion.Wrong. US law recognizes that refugees have the right to enter the country to seek asylum.
Does Canada have chain migration?Americans once did the same thing in Canada and were allowed to stay.

It was tongue-in-cheek. Thank you.Is that a serious response? Can't be..... So good one!! :lamo
What isn't getting done?
Highway bill,
border security,
a balanced budget,
economy,
energy,
at least for now, that's enough.
Not that any of it is likely to ever get accomplished.
Here is a discussion of issues currently facing Congress.

Everywhere I go, there's a construction job.
The current regime isn't going secure the border.
You'll have to talk to the Democrats about the budget. Even when they controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress, they didn't balance the budget.
The government isn't going to fix the economy, unless they get out of the private sector's way.
What's the governmemt going to about energy? Besides piss more money away on green energy subsidies, I mean.
Looks like that's not nearly enough.
