Of course they were. The rioters were hurling objects at ICE agents - bricks, bottles cinder block fragments - that is the essence of a rebellion against the Government of the United States.

The groundwork being established has nothing to do with Posse Comitatus. It is an entirely different statute: 10 U.S. Code § 12406 (National Guard in Federal service) which may be invoked "whenever there is a rebellion or danger of a rebellion against the authority of the Government of the United States"

Obviously, the whole point of the L.A. riots was to rebel against (obstruct) the authority of federal agents (ICE). That was their purpose. and that's what they DID - until the National Guard was summoned. Then ICE agents were able to resume their duties.

This is a no brainer for SCOTUS - it will take them 3 minutes (or less) to reach a decision which supports Trump calling in the National Guard to quell the violence.

The House Oversight Committee is launching an investigation into Gov. Gavin Newsom and L.A. Mayor Karen Bass as the protests over federal immigration policies continue in California.

HOC Chairman James Comer and LA Rep. Clay Higgins are leading the investigation, which is requesting Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel to provide documents on "acts of violence against law enforcement officers in California."

"You champion California's sanctuary policies, which prevent local law enforcement's cooperation with federal immigration authorities. You have also made it clear that you intend to block the objectives of the federal government, and defend aliens, regardless of their immigration status, criminal activity, anti-American views, or incitement to riot.” said the HOC's letter to Newsom and Bass.

The House Oversight Committee's investigation is the first at the congressional level into the riots, as ICE officers have been sweeping the streets in an effort to remove illegal immigrants.

Posse comitatus is the basis for your argument (aside from your straw-men and ad-hominem comments about me personally), and that is incorrect.

Posse comitatus was never the justification or rationalization for Trump calling out the National Guard to ensure that ICE could carry out their duty.

The legal groundwork being established by the HOC is 10 U.S. Code § 12406 (National Guard in Federal service), NOT Posse Comitatus. specifically: "acts of violence against law enforcement officers in California" which are well documented.

This will be a slam-dunk for SCOTUS IF they are called upon to rule on it. They are compelled to rule that the conditions existed for the president to invoke 10 U.S. Code § 12406.

Get that straight and we can continue discussing this
