. . . and more expensive. Even if passed, these increased fees and fines on immigrants will not offset the massive amount that taxpayers spend on Immigration.

This is just a proposal. House dems can (and probably will) reject it.

I think they're on the right track, here. Before these $5000 fines for crossing illegally, there really wasn't any incentive for migrants to enter the U.S. legally. Now there IS.

If a migrant is caught sneaking across the border at locations other than a Point of Entry, they'll have to pay $5000. If they don't have the $5000, then instant deportation. There is no need to schedule a hearing in Immigration Court.

The only thing actually different here is the fee to claim asylum and that likely violates the law. There are huge fees for all of this...plus the attorney fees...did you think it was free presently?

I did not think that. I stated that the proposed fines are hefty, and they ARE.

Presently, an I-130 petition is $625. Under the proposed plan, an I-130 petition jumps to $8500. That's a 1360% hike. Also, presently there is no fine imposed on immigrants apprehended at locations other than a designated Point of Entry. Under the proposed plan, there is $5000 fine imposed on illegals trying to cross anywhere that is not a Point Of Entry.

An I 130 also requires the fingerprint fee snd an I 485 or a waiver. The I 485 is $1440. So, its $625 plus $85 plus $1440 or a total of $2150

If that $5000 eliminates the bar to adjustment of status. Im for it. If not how will they get $5000 if the person is deported?
One thing that needs to occur is eliminating the need for an immigration attorney except in cases if asylum, withholding of deportation or for waivers
