Following a public outcry, and tweeted criticism from President-elect Donald Trump, House Republicans reversed course Tuesday on a proposal to gut their own ethics watchdog.
Glad to see them change course on this, it was ridiculous to be considered in the first place. I don't know how much influence Trump's tweet had on this, but whatever the reason, I'm glad to see them drop this attempt.
Thank you, Mister President. THAT was presidential.

Hold on, I'm making some popcorn for when the conservatives who praised Republicans for gutting the ethics committee now praise them for reversing course. This should give new meaning to mental acrobatics.
I'm waiting for the Liberals who condemned the Republicans to start praising them...lol

I think we'll be the better for DT's new slant on the Bully Pulpit.
Maggie - I hope you are right when you keep telling us there is a nice friendly pony underneath that big pile of manure.
Happy New Year to you.
Pft, only reason that he did it, was because his fanatical followers were against it. This was just another populist move by Trump, like all his policies and comments. Usually they are as idiotic as the GOP ideas though.
Now in this case it might happen to be a good thing as the GOP idea was idiotic. However it also curbs the GOPs leadership in the house to stand up to Trump in the battles to come, which is bad. Trump basically won a pissing contest between two bullies... for now.
On the other hand, it might strengthen the GOP resolve to keep Trump in check.. we shall see.

not that conservatives praised obama for anything though
Imo mark my ****ing calendar.
Meaning?
Agreed. Although I was totally fine with the GOP changing the organization, Trump took a leadership role here and shows that he's a man of impeccable integrity. Unlike Obama who encouraged Debbie Wasserman Schultz to cheat Bernie Sanders out of his fair chance.Thank you, Mister President. THAT was presidential.

You said something nice about Trump.
What did Obama have to say about Debbie Wasserman Schultz cheating against Bernie Sanders? Did he take a leadership role there and go against his own party? Before everyone jumps onto the trump love train, remember that he didn't criticize neutering the ethics committee so much as making the gutting of it a priority.
It's like if Congress voted to catapult puppies into outer space and the President responded, "Hey now, guys, catapulting puppies into outer space? Really? We need to be concentrating on my tax overhaul plan here" instead of "Catapulting puppies into outer space? What the **** is wrong with you people???"
