Hillary Isn't Unique- Democrats are the Most Corrupt Politicians

For 2010- 2015, these are the numbers for politicians who were busted for corruption related offenses on the state and local level, while serving in government.

Democrats- 77
Republicans- 30

My guess would be that this has more to do with the fact that Republicans control a lot of state and local governments and therefore tend to investigate their opponents more so. If you look at the federal level you see a different trend. Going back all the way to 2001 there have been only 6 democrats charged with crimes at the federal level whereas there have been 14 republicans.

Fail, sweetie pie.
The tally is of administration officials for crimes committed while in office.

Might wanna looksee at the two people you think you gotcha'd me with:

Wade Sanders (D), Deputy Assistant United States Secretary of the Navy, for Reserve Affairs, was sentenced to 37 months in prison on one charge of possession of child pornography. (2009)

Darleen A. Druyun (D), Principal Deputy United States Under Secretary of the Air Force.[34] She pleaded guilty to inflating the price of contracts to favor her future employer, Boeing. In October 2004, she was sentenced to nine months in jail for corruption, fined $5,000, given three years of supervised release and 150 hours of community service. (2005).[35] CBS News called it "the biggest Pentagon scandal in 20 years" and said that she pleaded guilty to a felony.

Happened under Bush's watch.

Opps.

Mostly false? So in other words they did steal things from the White House when they left. OK.

:agree: And no one could figure out how they felt justified in taking stuff that wasn't theirs, just because they wanted it! Weird....

You should go back to posting 6 year old news stories as new news.

At least there you have plausible deniability.

Well. Not really.

lol

*ouch!*

You were sucker-punched by your own link, and your escape card is taking exception to "sweetie pie."

Man. That must have been some punch.

So in other words, what you are saying is that all these 'reliable' news sources were duped, and that we should take PolitFact's word for it?

No. I'm saying you don't have a clue as to how Timelines work.

This was all investigated and found to be without merit.

I limited the field by clarifying that only elected politicians who were busted for typical corruption were considered. As a result, I eliminated at least a dozen Democrats who engaged in DUI, child pornography, perjury, etc, because those aren't generally considered a part of what makes a "corrupt" politician.

From 2001-present, I counted:

Federal Level Republicans- 4
Federal Level Democrats- 6

A Democratic state lawmaker has been indicted on charges of felony welfare fraud, according to Arizona Department of Economic Security Director Timothy Jeffries.
Rep. Ceci Velasquez, D-Litchfield Park, is suspected of fraud against the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also called SNAP.

According to a news release from the agency, the state got a tip in November 2014 of possible fraudulent activity. The DES Office of Inspector General investigated the allegations. Court documents allege Velasquez between 2013 and 2015 fraudulently used $1,726 worth of food stamps.
Velasquez was charged by the Arizona State Grand Jury in May with three felony counts: fraudulent schemes and practices; unlawful use of food stamps; and theft. The court documents were unsealed this week.

Hmm.... Isn't SNAP feeding hungry children?

LOL!!!

Way to massage the data to fit your narrative. In a sample size like that you're really not making a point of any kind here. There are plenty of Republicans that have been convicted and as I pointed out given the MO of Republicans it seems likely that they're just getting away with it more often since Democrats don't waste as much time on cheese dick investigations.

The point of the thread centered around corruption, because that's what the majority of people have been talking about during this presidential election.

You call this thread a "cheese dick investigation", and also say that "Republicans do it just as much, they just don't get caught", which you can't prove. Which leads me to think that you're using cheese dick logic.

Let me correct my data, now that Charlie Rangel has been found guilty on nearly all charges:

Federal Level Republicans- 4
Federal Level Democrats- 7

And look, Federal Level Dems almost match the percentage of corruption that State & Local Level Dems do!

One other point I will make on this is that generally Democrats polices are unfavorable to the very type of person who would attempt to bribe someone. If you're a wealthy business owner in this country odds are you supported the candidacy of the Republican in the race. If they lost how are you going to try and convince the Democrat who won to support an idea you like? I would argue that Democrats due to their policies that are favorable to the poor are more likely to have the wealthy attempt to buy them off. More attempts leads to more successes. There's no point in a wealth business owner attempting to bribe a Republican because they likely supported their candidacy in the first place and they will likely go along with any of your plans for free. Fewer attempts leads to fewer successes.

That does not mean that Democrats are any more corrupt it means they are more likely to be targeted by those who wish to corrupt because Republicans are happy to help corrupt people for free.

No, what I'm saying is that correlation does not equal causation. You are claiming that the fact that more Democrats have been found guilty of corruption means that they are by nature more corrupt. I am simply pointing out the reality that there are many perfectly logical explanations for why the numbers could have ended up that way without it saying anything about the character of Democrats. Obviously there is no data to indicate how many people are guilty of corruption, but didn't get caught so we have no way of determining what the true numbers look like. We also have no data on how often each political party is approached with a bribe.

Are democrats more likely to be corrupt? You tell me:

California lawmakers seem intent on making Sacramento the place where reasonable reforms, much like runaway trains, jump the tracks. In that no-speed-limit spirit Tuesday, the California Assembly voted 41-37 to allow convicted felons to vote in jail. (Yes, you read that correctly — in jail.) If Assembly Bill 2466 becomes law, the ACLU estimates that 50,000 adults will be able to vote behind bars. The state doesn’t trust these people on the streets, but they are welcome in the voting booth.

Crooks tend to fall in with other crooks. Corrupt democrats know that if felons have a political party, it's going to be Democrat, because birds of a feather flock together.

Wow, you're all kinds of confused.

Democrats began taking larger payoffs from big business when labor unions ceased to be major contributors to Democrat campaigns.

Hillary Clinton effectively works for Goldman Sachs. The days of Democrats being for the little guy are over. Some people just haven't gotten the memo yet.
