This is body cam footage of a police officer arresting some Karen refusing to wear a mask at a bank- a private institution with its own rules requiring masks be worn, despite the TX governor's lifting of restrictions in public spaces. In her impotent rage, she starts insulting the other customers and calling them sheep. They tell her "no".

This business of thinking that freedom means you have the right to endanger others' health and life, or that you are making some kind of political statement, is getting old. Put on the d--n mask.

Governor Abbott was clear on this topic, that businesses had the right to set their own mask policy.
Once a business has asked you to leave, not doing so is trespassing, and they can call the police.
Some people clearly do not know when discretion is the greater part of valor.

Even lepers were smart enough to take the treatment offered to them, which is why we don't have to have leper colonies anymore.
I guess we need to repurpose and reopen them.

Do you wear seatbelts?
Do you observe the speed limit?
So you require a driver's license?
Do you pay your property taxes?
Do your kids go to a public school?
Do you collect Social Security?
Do you cross on a green light?

Well, then, you should protest that the BIG BAD government is telling YOU what you should be doing and stop doing those things because they infringe on your constitutional rights and sense of entitlement.

Otherwise, if you don`t, but are protesting masks, you are being a hypocrite.

Man, that's a whole lot of trouble to get into just to be obstinate.

I think she was thinking she was making a political point and fighting for her freedumb. She forgot she’s not Trump to be able to so openly flout the law and be so shockingly rude and offensive and get away with it.

I feel sorry for her. She's probably a nice person who's going through some rough times and has been damn near brainwashed by right wing media.
I don't...let her get covid or someone she loves gets it...then she'll understand how unreasonable she's being...

I sort of agree with this, although not sure there's much evidence of her being a nice person from this video. But it feels like a problem that the minions get arrested while the media personalities and politicans essentially encourage them from the sidelines, make money off of them, under the protection of "free speech."

The person I feel most sorry for is the officer.

I agree. This is the dregs of Trump and his rhetoric. You'd hope all people would be smart enough, or considerate enough, but we all know that's just not true. This is why rules are set, and in this situation, the governor of TX, and Trump, are the irresponsible ones here. Sadly, this lady will serve as an example of how NOT free she is to do whatever she wants.

I might be biased because I have a number of Trump loving right wing family members down here in Louisiana that are acting the same way. My father and his wife gave us grief because we requested that if they wanted to come over or us go over to their house for them to give my son a birthday gift that we sit outside with masks on. They thought that was ridiculous so they just didn't come. My brothers agreed to do it but stated very plainly how stupid they thought it was. It's very very sad. And to make it worse, looking back at it all I can see very clearly how the ramping up of talk radio and fox news and far right online sources helped to make them like this.

Agreed. I said probably because she could be an asshole. But many of the Trump supporters and anti-science types down here are nice until politics gets involved. After the terrible flooding in 2016 I have several family members that went out of their way to raise money, donate clothes and goods and went to peoples houses to pull out the sheetrock and carpeting etc to let the house dry out and many other things. But most of them refuse to wear masks period. Just as an example, my father spent numerous days at peoples houses, some of them just friends of friends, people that he didn't even know, pulling out wet sheetrock and flooring etc, but he won't put on a mask and sit on our back patio with us so that he can visit on his grandson's birthday. When I sit and think about it I just get sad and can't comprehend how this happens.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the whole “Karen” mythology, but as I understand this lady would be the definitive anti-Karen. Aren’t “Karens” the nags that yell at rule breakers?

In my younger years, such people would upset me. Could be a line at the cashier or a fast food drive through or anywhere else that someone is capable of being a colossally clueless idiot. I would say things like "God damn it, wtf is wrong with stupid people! I can't stand them!"

With years came wisdom and serenity. These days I don't get upset. These days I'm thankful that it's not me. My life coulda gone sideways. But for a few lucky breaks, I could be the raging moron. I'm not the raging moron. I'm thankful for that.

And so, where there was animosity and resentment is now contentment. Things worked out pretty good for me and I'm rarely confused. I feel pity, instead of ire, for the deranged.

This is a new variant.

My Dad will be 90 next month, he won't let anyone in his house, he stands at the door and talks to us with his mask on and we have ours on...we take him his groceries and set them down on the front stoop, after we leave, he comes out to get them...lol...but so far, he has remained pretty healthy...

My understanding is that a "Karen" is an entitled white woman who feels that the rules don't apply to her. I've also seen it used against women who claim that they are being harassed by black people or other minorities who are not actually harassing them and acting fully within their rights (like the Central Park bird watcher incident, who was actually doing both, not complying with the rules and threatening a black man who called her out for it).

The woman is clearly someone who has had limited interaction with the Criminal Justice side of the Police.
If they order you leave someone's property, to do otherwise, has the potential to ruin your day.
In addition, there is ZERO benefit in arguing with a cop, he or maybe she, is there to do a job,
making their job more difficult for them, again has the potential to ruin your day.
