High crime has some attractions. Even a hint of crime will keep the bourgeois out and rent down. The northeast with its low crime has high rents. The police I will shoot you for even breathing wrong on a rich tourist.

The problem with this kind of argument is that you can take ANY two variables and claim that they're causally linked because of the statistics.

Example: Global temperatures are rising. Fewer typewriters are in use today than in the past. Therefore, the decline in the population of typewriters is causing global warming.
