It’s an opinion piece that says Democrats are loosing interest with young voters unhappy with the lack of results. The young Republicans are more motivated. It’s a warning to Democrats to not take for granted the youth vote if they do then even larger losses may be seen in the midterms.
Democrats haven't figured out yet that young people aren't going to be enthusiastically supporting the "moderate" oligarchic status quo bullshit that destroyed housing opportunities, skyrocketed the cost of education, and destroyed the job market all before they even finished highschool. Especially with all these brain-dead boomers having
no concept of just how the math has changed regarding cost of living, cost of education, cost of housing, and cost of health insurance vs. what these young people can make at these entry level jobs. Old people yelling at kids for being "lazy" and "entitled" because they're not just falling over themselves in gratitude for these slave-labor jobs that will never get them anywhere. Being told to suck it up by the very people who robbed them of their futures.
They somehow learned every wrong lesson from 2016 and even 2020. They think "status quo" has more appeal than it does, because status quo was being compared to
Donald ****ing Trump. They had this rallying point of "this guy's a lunatic and we gotta keep him away from the white house" and they still lost 2016. Why? Because Hillary Clinton was poster child for establishment Democrat status quo bullshit. It worked in 2020 because the nation had four years of the constant shitshow that is Donald Trump and they were sick of it. But I truly believe this just reaffirmed the Democratic party's belief that status quo is
good rather than just
preferable to madness.
The kids have been handed a crappier future than their parents had at their age. You want their vote? Get them some results. Higher minimum wage, affordable college, affordable housing, affordable healthcare. Their parents and grandparents had these things. We're supposed to leave things better for future generations, not worse.
