Herschel Walker, the Heisman Trophy winner who led the Georgia Bulldogs to a national championship in 1982, just wrote Donald Trump’s political obituary. Walker lost his bid to replace Georgia’s incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock, handing Democrats in that chamber a critical majority. A majority which will enable Joe Biden to appoint more judges, enact more legislation and put in place more appointees willing and able to carry out his far-left agenda. Walker was endorsed by former President Trump.
Having suffered the rare humiliation of failing to win a second term in the Oval Office, and having cost his party a majority in the senate – three times – it is time for Donald Trump to step away from politics. It is the right thing to do for his party, for the country, and for himself. Mr. Trump will not win another election. His most glaring political strength today is his ability to energize Democrats, causing not only historic turnout but attracting gushers of campaign cash – for the opposition. It is notable that Trump-backed candidates all came up short in fund-raising. The Georgia senate race cost more than $400 million. As of mid-November, Democrat Raphael Warnock had outspent Republican Herschel Walker $126 million to $48.5 million.

In addition to encouraging record-setting fund-raising, Trump-blessed candidates have also inspired historic turnout from Democrats. In Georgia, participation in both early voting and on election day set records. Unhappily, the results were sometimes historic too. In the recent midterms, Joe Biden performed better than any incumbent in decades, losing only a minor number of seats in the House and retaining control of the senate. The midterms were a referendum on the increasing unpopularity of Mr. Trump. Yes, he still has a lock on some (declining) portion of the Republican Party. And, yes, Trump-always voters may refuse to back anyone else, ever. But his refusal to admit defeat in the 2020 election, and the tragic aftermath of that refusal, shut the door on his political career. After January 6, and having publicly nursed his grievances for two years, there is no comeback. It is a tragedy that will only be made worse by Trump’s continued presence on our national stage. He has announced he will run again for president, but he cannot and will not let go of his anger about the 2020 election. That is a losing platform. It’s time for former President Trump to realize that staying in the 2024 contest will only further erode his legacy. He must move aside, and let Republicans win the next round.

From erstwhile kingmaker, Trump has now become the kiss of death for aspiring GOP candidates.

Make of it what you will, but Trump still has 74% approval from Republicans. Considering the rate at which he continues to cost Republicans elections, this has the very real likelihood of him blowing up the 2024 election for the GOP. Or winning the Presidency a second time.

They are ****ing stupid if they think that.

I'm no liberal and I'm no progressive, but I know enough about them to know that those people think he isn't liberal or progressive enough.
Anyone who watched the Biden/Sanders debate knows this. Anyone who has followed Joe Biden knows this.

Joe Biden is the most far-left progressive racist I know. He voted for the crime bill: Far-left. He opposed forced busing: Far-left.

I agree there is a very real likelihood of Trump blowing up the 2024 election for the GOP (presidential primaries). But, I don't see a very real likelihood of him winning the presidency. I think we learned that in the 2022 elections.

Warnock, a smart and principled man, ultimately beat the world's dumbest human by 1.6 points. And the electoral college only complicates that even more. Our electoral system can allow for a second Trump win.

Joe “No more drilling” Biden’s positions have ‘evolved’ quite a bit over his long political career, yet always in a ‘leftward’ direction.

No, not really. He's the same man he's always been.

Solar panels are not far-left. Gasoline is not far-right. They are businesses. Joe Biden supports business. Your opinion is biased.

That’s a nice straw man which you created.

Biden is 'far left?'

OK, stopped reading right there.

What a crock.

I don't need to hear how Trump is toast. We all know it anyway.

And Biden is so totally moderate.

Righties need to get a grip on reality.

Trump tries to claim Democrats are 'radical far left.' That's BS. They are all over the map. Get real.

Donald Trump is not going anywhere until the majority of the Republican base say otherwise…

okay

Do you have a reply? One that makes sense, please.

Yep, Biden’s ‘evolving’ positions on Social Security.

AS EARLY AS 1984 and as recently as 2018, former Vice President Joe Biden called for cuts to Social Security in the name of saving the program and balancing the federal budget. Last week, Sen. Bernie Sanders highlighted Biden’s record on Social Security in prosecuting the case that Biden isn’t the most electable candidate. The issue could be raised again in Tuesday night’s debate.

Biden himself, at least on his campaign website, now supports making Social Security more generous, not less. But that’s at odds with decades of his own advocacy, a record that could become a major political liability among voters concerned Biden will finally get his wish to trim back Social Security checks. Because about half of black seniors on Social Security rely on it as their primary means of support, any trimming of the program hits those beneficiaries particularly hard.

Yep, Biden’s ‘evolving’ positions on Social Security.

When Joe Biden proposes a $40 trillion program a'la Bernie Sanders, then you'll have a point. Wanting to better take care of seniors is hardly a far-left position.

Sanders (said to Bloomberg): "You shouldn't be allowed to exist."

^^^ that's far left. Biden supports business.

Wasn’t it Mark Twain that said, paraphrasing here, “the rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated,?”

He's been prayed-over and affirmed as the second coming of Christ by the religious fringe right.
