Agreed. We need truth, honesty, and integrity in MassImagine all of the potential we as a country are losing if we disqualify or devalue a person based on his religion, accent, political ideology, race, etc. None of these inform us about her/his qualifications.
No! People should rise above on their own! They should notOld liberals who support a.a. should expand their scope so that for example colleges would become more politically balanced, and the MSM would become more representative of America.
The essence of America is that we draw the best from allThe essence of America is that the more voices and ideas that are given a chance, that improves the likelihood that one of them will offer a great solution to vexing problems.
I think a better education system will be the best solutionSo I offer objective standards to judge the usefullness of preferences, racial and otherwise: When these poll questions about the presidency and others are as non-sensical as,
Would you prefer a President who eats hot dogs or hamburgers-
Affirmative Action should have been ended in 2000!then we can rid ourselves of affirmative action. Until then, we need to extend the active use of government to give preferences to people not only based on race, but all other areas that we as a country have mistakenly made important.
When the answers to poll questions like this about willingness to vote for various types of people for President are indistinguishable from ones such as:
would you vote for a left handed president if he was qualified?
then we can rid ourselves of racial and other prefences.
Want to know which rascist honky was staunchly opposed to affirmative action? It was Malcolm X.
He saw it as a slap in the face to African Americans by so-called Liberal whites, who viewed blacks as not able to do as well as whites, because of past rascism, or whatever reason, and therefore needed a helping hand. And you know what? Malcolm X was right. Limousine Liberal white people might not want to admit it, but some of them are rascist too. They pretend not to show it, but it comes out when they pander to the black community by offering affirmative action and similar laws and programs instead of addressing the problem of rascism directly, by taking a good look at themselves in a mirror. They could have done better by eliminating the red-lining of homes in their own neighborhoods, or by quitting their exclusive country clubs, which have those "membership rules". A good example is River Oaks, here in Houston. All the rich white bleeding hearts there talk a good talk. Is that why that neighborhood is still exclusively white, despite Houston having a good number of black millionaires? Do this experiment.
The "buying a home" experiment for white people:
1) Seek out a realtor who sells homes in River Oaks, or other "exclusive" area, where prices are not listed publicly.
2) Call up, and with your "whitest" accent, tell the realtor you are interested in one of the homes for sale there, and ask the price.
3) Next, have a black friend do the same thing, with the "blackest" accent he can muster.
What you will notice is that 2 prices will be given, one a fair market price, and one sky high. Guess who gets the sky high price? (Hint: It won't be you.) There was an expose by channel 13 on just this about 15 years ago, and 15 years later, there has been no change.
Affirmative action is not a cure for rascism, but only perpetuates it. The only cure for rascism is to abolish it, but the problem is that too many Liberal white people who are in self denial won't admit that they themselves are part of the problem.

We need affirmative action in the U.S. not only for race, but for all other areas that matter to people including gender, religion, political ideology, geographic home, physical appearance, etc. Until it is clear that the reason a person succeeds or fails is based on objective merit, we need to take affirmative action to ensure equality.
if one can not make it in America
go back to africa or another backwards arse countyr/continent
